Your post made me smile. I have been lurking around for awhile. ~Holly Jarvis Stamply <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: I guess that there are some people who are born suckers. I am one of them.
Since 1999 when Zen Forum was started, there have probably been dozens if not hundreds of one-topic ranters that have joined this list to rant about something. Most recently it was the guy ranting about Social Security benefits. There was some lady that had a one-post rant about animal rights, and on and on it goes. I never censor anyone, unless it gets personal, Fwords, etc. I always get excited when I see these rants. I feel like we are all going to get our pitch-forks and rise together to stop some injustice. Yet what always happens is that after the person is all ranted-out and has gotten all the ranting out of his or her system, they usually never participate in any Zen discussion, and then they just quietly disappear from the list. Never to be seen again. Not even a "Thank you for letting me rant here for weeks without telling me to shut-up." It is kind of disappointing, because I guess I am expecting one of those moments of enlightenment (for me, them, or anyone) like what happens in a movie or a Zen book. Where do all these ranters go, and why do they stop here on their journey? Current Book Discussion: any Zen book that you recently have read or are reading! Talk about it today!
