Anthony: I'm not familiar with "Peking Duck". In the case of producing "Duck Pate or Duck Foie Grass" which is considered amongst the French delicacies, the animal is kept in a kind of box cage with a top cover letting only a hole for the head of the duck being out and being fed by force till the animal body, the liver blows inside the box. My point here was about how extremely important is to be aware of the kind of food we ingest. Millions of people taste and eat this kind of food without knowing the way this particular "delicacy" was produced. I bet that if many would they won't eat it with such an ease. Awareness about all kind of food we ingest whether is physical or mental help us to reduce, alleviate, prevent all the unnecessary cruelty and abuse at once towards nature in general. Mayka

During the process, the duck looks 'happy' (to human being, but must feel horrible to itself), because it grows fat. After the killing, the animal is roasted with all kinds of delicious paste, then served on your table. I understand why Bill sticks to Thai flight lice all the time. In fact being a vegetarian or not being a vegetarian is not the real issue. The real issue is to be aware about everything we ingest in all the ways. Talking about the physical food if many consumers of meat were aware how that piece of meat they are about to eat come from, was grown, was made with and a cost of...For instance just recently somebody told me that the best Duck Pate or Foie Grass is the one in which the duck is put in a kind of small place where only the head comes out. The animal is fed by force through its mouth with the help of an "embudo" pushing the animal to swallow everything that is put on it till the liver of the animal blows!. When one ingest such a "delicious pate" one is also ingesting hell!. A pleasure to read you always. If you use your intellect, rationality (discriminating mind) to judge things you are liable to be let down. If the judgement is coming from Buddha Mind (and then it's not really a judgement but a 'seeing' or 'knowing') then you will never be led astray. ...Bill! --- In [email protected], Chris Austin-Lane <chris@...> wrote: > > On Monday, January 17, 2011, ED <seacrofter001@...> wrote: > > > Every individual is at the type and level of consciousness that he/she > > possesses at the present time, and this may evolve with age. > > Is any of these positions 'better' or 'worse'?
