I know no general perspectives, only particular ones, in all honesty, so let me 
use my imagination: Don't criticize me if I disappoint you: I think you asked 
for it.  "General perspective"?  Hmm-m.  Hmm.

Let's see:

When a practitioner is newly awakened, others are surprised and immensely 
impressed by the natural and unassuming compassion that flows.  If they keep 
practicing, the compassion keeps flowing.  This is only following an awakening, 
mind you.  But just ask the spouses of these people, for example.  I leave you 
to your own resources, and compassionately release you to your own 
Recognizance, Prisoner.  Just stay clean and do not get into trouble again.  
The Law is watching.
