I missed out on why it was done this way for so many centuries.  I was just a 
kid when Vatican II ended it all.  I think I was Ten.

But I remember like yesterday that phone number, "Et cum spirit Two-Two-OH.

The vulgar languages were not considered sacred, back then.  Funny distinction, 
now.  Nowadays, *everything* is vulgar.  ;-)
