Joe,

There is no 'sixth sense'.  There are not even five senses.  There is only 
Buddha Nature.

If you want to describe Buddha Nature dualistically you could say it is the 
aggregation of all the five senses.  But these five divisions/classifications 
are dualistic and illusory - like saying there is a 'you' and a 'me' and we are 
separate.   And yes, these senses (this sense, Buddha Nature) is not faulty.  
It is your perception (which is a product of your dualistic, rational mind) 
which  could be said to be faulty.  I don't call the products of this dualistic 
mind faulty, I call them illusions.
