Bill!, In my far-flung time-zone last night, I was fading, and you were still Bright and Smart.
I think you may be encapsulating in your poem for me the concern I showed for that static fellow at the top of the 100-foot pole. Is that correct? I've had about 8 hours now of relative WAKEFULNESS in which to rub the sleep out of my eyes, I've eaten several meals, and I have a large cat on my lap right at the moment, and I think I am coming-around. ;-) Bill!: Question, please?: What ever happened to flag-pole sitters? I haven't heard about them probably since the EARLY Sixties. Do you think the activity was completely replaced by self-administration of various controlled and (then-) un-controlled substances? Or?... did it just go UNDERGROUND? Maybe LAWS were made against it... against flag-pole sitting, I mean. Do you think our Edgar is one of them, or perhaps a throw-back? (no, I don't mean a too-small Tuna fish). Maybe a CLOSET flag-pole sitter? Let's see, now: flag-pole sitting is supposed to involve SITTING: is Edgar "into" that? From what you know of him, I mean? Have flag-pole sitters been interviewed afterward, or have any of them written autobiographies? I'm curious if any of them had any changes of consciousness while aloft that they may have described as positive, or strange. And could they receive visitors up there? Has any flag-pole sitter ever been interviewed _in situ_, to boot? Many questions, there, in fact. Thank you for that poem! --Joe > "Bill!" <BillSmart@...> wrote: > > Joe, > > Just for you... > > A failure to launch? > It couldn't get any verse, > Put down putting down! > > ...Bill! > > > --- In [email protected], "Joe" <desert_woodworker@> wrote: > > > > Bill!, > > > > "Thoroughly Modern Millie", our Bill!(!). > > > > And, awake in the moment without a screen of thoughts (or even if there are > > passing thoughts, or momentarily fixed thoughts; you're skilled at what to > > do with them). > > > > Let me add my voice to those who say they don't call you "Smart" for > > nuttin'! > > > > It's clear via these boards, alone, who has awakened at some time or other, > > and who is busy rationalizing his failure to "put down".
