Yes, I undertake Zen training and endeavor to live from a perspective of
non-duality, and practice the religion I grew up with in the US Episcopal
church. I believe some of my co-religionists are a bit skeptical that we are
really Christian, but we don't worry too much about that. I find the Zen
training helps me act in the way my religion recommends - just sing when
singing; just listen when listening; don't hold onto my own ideas about myself
in the face of this moment of creation.

Being a Sunday school teacher is interesting - kids are both honest and open to
others, but also liable to start stealing or mocking or hitting.

Some of the kids really seem to like our bit of quiet time, and it is in
general quite different from their normal lives of busy-ness and accomplishment
and iPods and the like.

For my own kids, they see me sitting and I probably buy more story books from
the Buddhist tradition for reading than I would have without the training - tho
we are always eager for good folk tales from any source.

The biggest way the training helps is that I am less twitchy when I sit, and
more able to listen and see some right action instead of freaking out.

Thanks,
Chris Austin-Lane
