Merle,

The biographer interviewed some 427 people who knew John while alive. I call
that working from Primary Sources. What a thorough job, Merle!

Since the subject has left the planet, one has to go to the next closest
authorities. One can also go to writings, movies, videos, diaries, and Police
records. All of which the biographer did, and more.

Don't you think that such interviewing and canvassing and documentation is what
a legitimate biographer should and must do? I do.

The fact that Goldman paints what for some is an unpleasant or disillusioning
painting of Lennon (and his association with Ono) does not make him a bad
painter.

I don't find the work unpleasant at all, but I do find it disturbing, and
informative. And illuminating into many corners of a formative time in my life.

For that and for Goldman's outstanding service, I'm grateful, even if Lennon is
not the star of the Show. The Music stands, though.

Goldman's bio (with Schiller) of Lenny Bruce is pretty good, too.

(this continues to be off-topic in a Zen-echo, and I apologize for that, All).
