Bill!, Well-observed, there, I opine. And concur.
A good reminder, Bill!(!). This is why it's so valuable to seek (find; take) the opportunity to practice with a teacher and sangha, to find out about and to apply practices that have been worked-out over 2000 years or more, ask the Teacher for clarification on any point, and then take the methods home, and periodically come back at least from time to time for a check-up and mind-to-mind "meeting" with the group and teacher even if you don't reside nearby the place. It's not always logistically or otherwise possible or palatable for all to do this, but it's still... good advice... which I'm glad I took. ;-) Anyway, I think it's a good recommendation for most people if they can reach out in this way to make a start, and then to continue. It sets a person on rails, rather than withstanding to roll haphazardly over the Prairie. If it's hard and full of pitfalls to learn, say, ***T'AI CHI*** from a book, ...imagine how impossible it is to learn authentic Zen practice! I don't say it's needed for awakening, because maybe one in a billion persons still awaken every millennium (?) all on their own by their lonesome, spontaneously, or by accident, or Divine Intervention. But it surely "ups" our chances of getting lucky to apply a refined (simple) technology, tailored and altered at times for us by the Teacher. ;-) Wearing those fitted-clothes for a time seems to be the only reliable way -- never guaranteed -- to become naked. Thanks to the tailor, ...and all tailors throughout Space and Time. Had it "Up to here?" with illusion? There is a Way (containing ways)... . With best wishes for strong practice for all, and thanks, Bill!, --Joe > "Bill!" <BillSmart@...> wrote: > > Merle, > > Indeed everyday life can be meditation in practice, but it can also be just a > blur of memories, judgments, projections - in other words illusion. > > ...Bill! > > --- In [email protected], Merle Lester <merlewiitpom@> wrote: > > > > life is meditation in practise!..merle ------------------------------------ Current Book Discussion: any Zen book that you recently have read or are reading!
