Merle,

One's fondness should go where it naturally goes.

So should a person's Common Sense. I say drop your fondness and fly straight.

"Evolution" works at the speed-limit of Natural Selection, Merle.

Thus, "evolving consciousness" is hooey. As I say, "bullshit". Actually,
bullshit is better than that false idea! It's compostable.

But, check for changes in about 10000 years. NOT before then.

Hail!

I honor, with awe, the process of evolution. And, the fact that Nature is not
a quick-change artist. Good thing! Or we'd be jerked all over the place.
But, a Human generation is about 25 years, yes? We are NOT Drosophila
melanogaster, Merle. Mutations in us take long times to spread to grow to
great numbers.

What we feel is lacking or needed is here now, Merle. Uncover it! That is our
Practice. It doesn't get any simpler than this, Merle. There is nothing to
wait for! I would not lie to my Cousin about this. And no lies about
"evolving consciousness" are needed. They are unhelpful and disabling. They
are frankly hippie dreams of unsubstantiated drug imaginings.

Just do the work NOW of sinking into our true nature. Note that I say "true".
Find out what "true" is, when it comes to our nature. Even if you think you've
found it, you can always clarify it, and keep it clear. There's work to do!
And the miracle is, it can be done.

But we must sink to the foundation and let the walls fall down, and ceiling
beams, and roof, and everything. This happens by itself, if you will only
sink, sink, Correctly. And not stop too soon before landing safely home.
That's where a teacher is a good and necessary co-pilot. There are pitfalls,
in this sinking!: a teacher can point at the last second and keep you from
falling amiss.

With all Respect,

Hands in Gassho, and bow,

--Joe
