Merle,

I'm one of those who don't believe in a personal god and
detest being called an "atheist" for this lack of belief. A god who suspends
the Laws of Nature for us personally is as likely as a fairy coming in the
middle of the night to put money under the pillow as a reward for leaving a
tooth there (There's more evidence for the latter..). We don't have labels for
those who don't believe in this generous and mouth-care aware fairy, just as we
don't have labels for those who don't believe in horoscopes or leprechauns etc.
So why the label for those who don't believe in this personal god? Christians
who don't believe in The Rainbow Serpent are atheists to those who do believe,
which illustrates just how ridiculous the label is.
