Kathleen, It seems we agree that mediation is a raft that could bring us closer... and perhaps even further away depending on how it is used.  We also seem to agree that It is not inherently closer, by definition.  For me Godel's theorem has been the most easily communicable raft -- but I am not always communicating with "normal" people.   Thanks for the exchange.       Thus, my question, "Is practice caused or uncaused?" lies helpless and as Al pointed out once, like an orphan... I am forced to cannibilize my own thoughts... perhaps they will eat themselves from out of food and finally die.    Or, if history proves consistent, my thoughts will resort to being farmers and use the dying thoughts as fertilizer to grow ever persistent strains of crop to also be used as future sources of fertilizer...   Rod Scholl Noble Eightfold Path: Right View, Right Intention, Right Speech, Right  Action, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, Right Concentration, Right Livelihood Yahoo!
