James, Thanks for your response. i'm not actually the one who had the goose laid at my doorstep, but much of what you say is helpful. i think i started that post hoping to find out what it is that i'm not putting down. at the moment it seems either to be a desire to recognized as special (like a child who wants to know that their parents love them best), or just a deep skepticism that there is anything remotely compassionate about this world & this practice is only about our wishful thinking that that were true (which as i'm typing this seems to probably come from my own unwillingness to let go of my own needs & live from a more compassionate place). at any rate - regardless of what i'm holding onto, or how childishly embarrassing it may seem, it _is_ simply part of the human experience & i shouldn't hold it too closely to myself (take it too personally??). i like what you say about considering the bloody goose as a gift & using it with a thankful prayer. thanks, j ------------------------ Yahoo!
