Jill: How to we 'sell' the community on the value of adding these type of teachings into our curriculum?
Hi Jill, Well -- I don't know anyone who wants less value in public schools. Private schools aleady attempt this sort of thing. If you can afford it, good for you. There's a lot of politis surrounding the notion of better schools, private vs. public, funding, and curricullum. How do you sell theather to the conservative muslim person? Or music to a practicing taliban muslim? Or evolution to a conservative christian, or 'in god we trust' to an aethiest. Maybe a picket line would help (said sarcastically). I'm always disheartened when someone has ideas like "hey, lets have everyone be richer and happier". It shows a lack of identification with the rest of humanity. Everyone already wants it -- you don't need a sales campaign. We just can't agree on the definition of it! And the politicians, lawyers, activists, media, etc. often profit by highlighting the dichotomies. If you want to join the fray by arguing for your theory on what will make us all happier, than good luck -- each theory comes from somewhere. But you might be more suited spending that energy making yourself and those around you happy, though. Rod ------------------------ Yahoo!
