Being present can make the ordinary things of life more thrilling, more fun, more enjoyable, sure. However, first off, many moments are not going to be any of those things, no matter how present you are. Thrilling, enjoyment, and fun, are all just pleasant states. Zen is about non-grasping awareness. If there is fun, there is fun. If not, not. It's about no problem either way. Fun is temporary! No such thing as fun all the time. :) This author confuses the ideas of "dispassion" and "detachment" with "shutting off from life" and "not caring".
