Dear all Sangha,

When I first read about Tolle, it sounded like he was schizophrenic for awhile,
hanging out
on park benches. It could be true; about a third of people who experience such
an episode
recover and never have a recurrence. Joseph Campbell once said schizophrenia
could be a
hero's journey.

There seem to be quite a few adavaita gurus out there, Gangaji, Tolle,
Adyashanti, Katie
and others, making a more than decent living off of basic teachings that are
repeated,
reworded, reframed, and seem to be more about the personal charisma and/or
mystique
of the teacher. Tapes and CD's, satsangs, book after book, plenty of
opportunities to
spend money.

That is not to take away the truth of what they teach. It is a truth that
cannot be tapped
into just by hearing the teachings and being enchanted by the words and the
persona of
the teacher.

Take care and enjoy the day,
Diana
