From: "mackkup" <> you still havent answered the question. all you have done
is talk about Buddha. answer the question directly and dont tell any stories
that you have read or heard about. Its easy to repeat spiritual
> sayings and teachings but to live by them is something different.>>
These are the kind of back-handed swipes that I often do myself and which I
have come to recognize are a dis-service to everyone and disrespectful of
both me and the others involved.
None of us has all the answers. Not even the Zen Masters, Buddha, etc.
Buddha came on earth 2000 or so years ago and while he may have enlightened
a lot of people he did not solve any of the world's problems. Neither have
any of the other "messiahs," so it is not very realistic to expect some
average guy or gal on an e-list to hold the answers to the meaning of life.
The reason that questions should be asked is to get others to think about
them and provide their ideas. If you can use something that you read, that
is the gravy. If not, at least you can see how other people think about the
same questions.
Respect is the foundation for any positive communications and relationships.
Respect yourself and everyone else that participates. Try to give back to
others the same sincere energy and good intentions that they gave to you.
Thank you.
