Of course WMI needs authentication, otherwise zenoss would not be able to collect at least some information and would show ERROR_LOGON_FAILURE instead.
Your suggestion to disable WMI altogether in order to get rid of the error is really interesting. A more general solution would be to disable Zenoss altogeher, this would also solve all other errors that people have reported in this forum. :-) By the way, only Windows servers on foreign IP subnets are showing this error, moving all the error events to history will crash zenwinmodeler.
