Sorry that I have to correct my own post. The "solution" worked for only half a day, all of a sudden all ERROR_SEM_TIMEOUT alerts are back again on all servers except of those residing on the local subnet. :-(
IMHO this WMI thing is not ready for production yet. Too bad that 75% of my servers are Windows boxes.
