You SHOULD be able to run 2.1.1... I would recommend doing that. So, maybe you can uninstall and re-install?
Of course, you could try the older version, but I have been frustrated by the number of bugs in the older version and 2.1.X has fixed a lot of them. Let me know your results either way. (Actually, there's no reason you can't run both side by side if your XP box is up to it performance and memory wise.... 8) ).
