I think as a start the "rules" or guide or whatever it ends up being called should initially just document the house rules as they currently stand. Like you said, things on [OT] posts, job ads, flamewars, Friday posts etc etc. If its documented then ppl know where they stand. The issue of [OT] posts is working pretty well. As long as ppl remember to put the [OT] in their subject then those who feel strongly enough to do something about not reading them can set up a rule to delete them.
I keep imagining us as a group writing something that syncs elists with forums but I have a vivid imagination. I also lack the interest right now to start anything. I'm happy to play computer games at the end of the day, its my mental unwind. :) cheers, Stephen On Sun, Feb 28, 2010 at 7:58 PM, Ian Thomas <[email protected]> wrote: > I just think there should be rules down about whether OT is okay or not, > top/bottom posting is polite or not, blah blah blah. > > So at least when there is an OT meltdown there is something to refer to. > > Well, that’s innocuous enough for most – w/o sounding too heavy (thinks: > Neil, The Young Ones). > > I must say I’m amazed at some of the behaviour, lack of humour, and > intolerance.
