Hello to all Care2x developers,

Hello Mauri, welcome.

There are some modules, which we will absolutely need: billing, inventory and also good reporting system.

Ah, billing and inventory...

What do you mean by "reporting system"? What do you want to report and
with which periodicity?

Mauri Niemi, MD, Information Officer

It is refreshing to see, for a change, an MD managing a healthcare information system. At last we start to see information officers that have actually treated patients and read medical books. Those should have a better understanding of the healthcare environment, its social aspects and the values that are daily balanced in a healthcare institution. Those have the ethical duty of taking care of the human part of a healthcare information system (which, some of you may agree, is made of hardware, software and... the people who feed data into the system and put their knowledge to make that data into information).

Today I will post an email titled: "Implementing a HIS in a third world
country: the South African disaster"
It includes a pointer to an article from the British Medical Journal
titled "Evaluating computerised health information systems: hard
lessons still to be learnt". In that article the authors make a sour
analysis of their experience at introducing an health IT system in South
Africa. I am sure that you will find it enlightening.
