Guten Tag J. Antas, i think only it is a good idea to take a realy closer look to Typo3
For all your questions and remarks i found at typo3 a well prepared answer at their page. With drupal i had some problems to get this informations. JA> I never installed it in one of my systems. Are there Internet systems available that you can provide for care2x or only Intranet? I think only for the future. JA> But, Drupal has a greater installed base and a better developer base, JA> and these are the facts. Are there studies available? Betwhen what you mean if you say better? I wasn't aware that it was tested from someone. Who it was? Which year? JA> I would like to add that in choosing a open source product we should be JA> extra careful with things like: JA> a) current installed user base, I am not so happy with the user base. The patients and the staff are managed in the same way. This gives in my opinion a security risk by a possible missmanagement of an admin. What happened if a admin give rights to a patient as staff. I like it more as a group controlled base. To divide the data. Stuff can be become patient. Ok redundant data if you have it in 2 databases. See this only as an example to make a stuff administration for "newbee admins" http://typo3.org/doc.0.html?&tx_extrepmgm_pi1[extUid]=491&tx_extrepmgm_pi1[tocEl]=1382&cHash=65e1145f25 Is there such a "fine tuning" like mountpoints, symbolic links, and groups with a good few for example 1000 persons in drupal? JA> b) developer's quantity and quality I think the community there is very well organised. This is only a few for the main organisation. Try if you have a special question to contact one person inside the project. I was realy lucky to get fast and competent answers. They also do the review of the activity. http://typo3.org/1477.0.html JA> c) international expression of that particular project. Look there for your own language i think you can get some help from a person that you know :-) http://typo3.org/1388.0.html JA> I.e., one should not choose a project because, for instance, it has JA> documentation in german, or german developers. In that case the would be JA> installer would be much better taking an intensive english course. I think this helps: http://typo3.org/1387+M5dd2478d655.0.html http://typo3.org/doc.0.html?&tx_extrepmgm_pi1[show]=matrix&cHash=2ca089abb7 Ok this thing with that meetings is possibly such a thing we like in Germany. Can be that this is a culture things to meet once a month somewhere to drink some beer or wine together. So there are existing user groups for linux, windows, football, dancing :-) So also for Typo3. Maybe if care2x grows than i am shure that also there are comming user groups or interest groups of care2x together. Possibly a interested hospital manager or an admin comes one day to get information. I think it is a good starting point to create slowly in countries or towns such user groups for care2x. You post i a mail that its not necessary, eg. a thing like Flensburg. Possibly a part of your own few, possibly a thing of your culture. http://typo3.org/1419.0.html JA> Now for practical things: is Typo3 really a good toy? Who is developing JA> it? Why? What great things are being done with it? Look their Extension concept: Keep a look about their documentation. :-) That is the idea with the plugins. Eg. ipath is independant but very useful for doctors and some hospitals. But not for all. Possibly the iPath team like to use care2x for their needs. So they can make a team looking for help. Are higly independant for their own developement. they can say we are only developing for Windows because here we have the Know How. http://typo3.org/1420.0.html Same for the billing modulle. If you develope one for Italy than you can't use it possibly in Germany or in India. Parts OK. But possibly in Germany noone needs because they have external proprietary Billing Systems and don't like to change. The need only a connection. Take a look there. http://typo3.org/1397.0.html JA> Compare those with Drupal... by then you will see "why Drupal"... I showed some resources. There are more than 7000. Some are arguments "why Typo3" See it from another point: "Why not Typo3" The answer: It's a monster. It take possibly 6 weeks and more, before you run it with an own Template nd get a part of the knowledge. It needs a Specialist. In a hospital mostly paid. But after that time to work with it its very easy. But here we are at a point of the Open Source Business Modells. Its designet for a long term strategy and for a service modell. The same as a HIS. You yourself gave that argument before with the Business article you posted. That was the time i kept more attention to Typo3. First i thought only running the page with it. But after some realy working with it, i saw that if you mix it with care2x together you give hospitals 2 very high needed solutions. A HIS and a complete Intranet and Extranet. Let them decide. They can take one or both or nothing of both solutions. Their choice.
