While I do think there are some absurd entities on
the list, I think that people tend to forget that getting on to the honor roll
is supposed to be DIFFICULT and it's supposed to take time AND effort. After
all, it is called the "Honor Roll" for a reason.
It seems that some ops want to remove countries
from the list because they haven't been active for a few years, or
that it seems that it might take 5 or 10 years for the next legtitimate
operation. I can understand the desire to want to get to the top of the
honor roll, especially if you're only a few away, but removing entities
isn't the way to do it. DXing is often a long term propostition and we have it
much better these days than before there was an internet cluster or DX
internet mailing lists. Those two tools alone make DXing so
much easier- we learn almost immediately when the operations will take
place and when they do take place, when they're on and where they're at on the
bands. Unfortunately, there is nothing to make waiting easier, which is why
patience is a virtue. ;)
Geo-political situations change constantly. What
seems like a hopeless situation one day can change overnight. Remember Albania?
I missed N. Korea because I couldn't hear him, but it was amazing that there was
such a long term operation from there in the first place. There is hope for
almost any entity, but it just takes time. If it exists, there will eventually
be an operation from there.
