Why is it and it's not just with this reflector when post's come out like mine
expressing dissatisfaction with DX4WIN and expecting and willing to pay
for revisions, the DX4WIN Addicts come out stating exactly what Erkki stated?

I choose DX4WIN years ago because it was progressive and on the move unlike
the contemporary logging programs at that time and in the past 4 years it has
gone into exile.

Erkki if you like and enjoy the updates from Jim AD1C great. Your a happy
camper. I like DX4WIN also but I want my logging program to continue to
be one of the best and up to the times. If we use your approach Erkki in
regards to computer OS we would all be running Windows 3.5 or even DOS
in today's world.

You stating you have to express a different view? Well that "different view"
is occuring now for the past 4 years. Nothing. Nothing while we wait patiently for change. Not everyone is content with the status quo. Some of the DX4WIN user's
I know have moved onto DXLAB because of the status quo and have not looked
back.

Don't see any change coming from Paul. Only country, node, and other file
updates. Thank God for Jim because if not for his dedication this DX4WIN
would have gone the way of the dinosaur by now.

Once again if Paul doesn't want to do some revisions then sell the company
to someone who would love to.

I have been using DX4Win since V1.6 and now I am using V8.4. There is
absolutely nothing I miss in DX4Win. It does everything I need. Most
important are the groups as I have logs from over 30 callsigns in the
same log. However, I think most users don't know how to use the groups.
It takes some manual reading...

There seems to be wishes to connect the DX cluster with one click. I
don't have problem to click three times. LoTW is also easy - a few
clicks and no problems ever. If there are no more updates to the
program, I will probably be using this version the rest of my life. Of
course your needs might be different.

A big thank to Jim AD1C who has put a lot of work into the updating of
country files. And a big thank to Paul for making the program.

Hi, John.

I have been using DX4WIN since V2. It has been four-and-a-half years
since V8 was released and three years since it was last
updated. Last
year at this time I told myself I would give Paul one more year to
provide us with some meaningful updates or I would move on to an
actively-maintained program like DXLAB. Using DX4WIN is
second nature
to me and the learning curve for a program like DXLAB will be fairly
high, but at least DXLAB is moving forward, not stagnating.

I downloaded DXLAB last night (as you know it is free) and so the
journey begins....

Thanks for the memories, Paul, and all the support, Jim.

Dick

Are there going to be further versions or has DX4WIN been

architecture or platform so old that it's too difficult to
continue?
Should we continue
to patiently wait or learning another logging program which
has more
to offer.

For starters the steps one has to take to upload a log to
LOTW is many
and confusing.
This is well known. I downloaded and installed DXLAB. With
two mouse
clicks my log is
uploaded to LOTW. It's amazing. Why can we not have the same with
DX4WIN?
DX4WIN is still my logging program.

If time constraints are the problem for DX4WIN updates perhaps it's
time to sell the company
and allow someone to further develop this great classic dx logging
program.
