mistake to re-implement the blog just because people didn't like the idea of
Wordpress, which seems to be more than adequate if the stream of
people "having their say" on the current blog is any indication.
Well it just seemed a bit anachronistic to use a PHP powered blog for
a Python conference. And also it was a bit weird that the domain name
completely changed when you clicked on the blog.

Hey people,
I don't want to be ungrateful for work that was done on the blog
conversion, it was quickly and proficiently done, but I am concerned
that while Python advocacy is well and good, we also have to acknowledge
instances where other things work just as well or better - otherwise we
come across as zealots and turn people off, not to mention damaging our
own efficacy with our blind spots. This issue is obviously done and
dusted, I don't want open it up again, but as an example, Wordpress
worked fine and can be hosted under any domain. I might not have some
insight that the core group has, but my default position for future such
decisions is that changing for the sake of it isn't the best use of our
very limited resources. (Similarly, I am not advocating switching back.)
With respect, big hugs all round,
Jonathan
