Hi Sylvain,

I think I found the error. Windows was innocent here - I got this error also on OpenSolaris. But here I could debug the problem, at least.

I guess it is actually a "broken pipe", because tar does not read until EOF, but until it finds two consecutive zero blocks. So there was no synchronization at EOF time, and the pipe was closed in the wrong order (depending on random scheduling decisions of the OS).

(What is really interesting is that you get "broken pipe" even if the data is completely read, only the close is done wrong. I did not know that detail.)

This is fixed in godi-skylift-20120722, available from download.camlcity.org.
