You also have to specify -d /dev/video1 when querying with -X. Can you try 
again? I looked at the 0.2.0-rc3k source and it should work. You should also 
use the ivtvctl from the same version as the driver (if you weren't doing 
that already).

Anyway, these tests should be done without using embedded VBI. If the dropouts 
happen only with embedded VBI then that would of course be a strong 
indication of were to look.
