Regarding the Gatekeeper security setting - there have been many people opening
bugs for it,
and one reason is perhaps that this OSX requirement is not mentioned in the
Readme.html contained in the DMG.
Also, the release notes page is not linked from the Readme, only from the
downloads page. Should we fix it?

sure, we can add a note into the Readme. But - back to the problem you have solved with Frank and assumed I understood it right - this would not help when the DMG file cannot be downloaded because of the Gatekeeper. ;-)

It would be better to add this to the system requirements (strange that it is still not there, I would add it) or an additional hint on the download webpage only when something for OS X was selected.

A respective text paragraph is added to the release notes since version 4.0. So, copying to the Readme file and download webpage should be easy.

My 2 ct.

Hi,

I chatted offline with Frank, and we resolved the issue.

The reason for confusion was the fact that AOO OSX binaries are blocked by
OSX’s Gatekeeper by default.
After allowing apps from all sources, it succeeded.

I still believe it is pretty bad that we encourage users to allow installing
apps from any source.
Have we investigated how we could start signing our OSX binaries, like Libre
has been doing for the past 2-3 releases?
Or even publish through the Mac App Store. NeoOffice does so, so it should be
possible?

It simply does’nt work.

Could you please make it, so I do not receive the announcement, that version
4.1.2 is available. It irritates, that it pops up all the time.

I have now tried all what you suggest. The only version I can get in Danish is
3.

I still don't know on which website you are. All I can tell you is that the
download for OS X (64-bit) in Danish with 4.1.2 is working on [1]. As
alternative link you can use the link from [2] to get this version.

I try to download from the site, where the 4.1.2 version is introduced. The
site contained mainly green and yellow colors and it apparently does not exist
anymore. It can not be opened anymore.
Normal download procedure runs ok, but it is only the 4.1.1 programme english
version that is being installed om my MacBook Air.
The danish Language programme is also downloaded, but as I do not have the
4.1.2 it cannot be installed.

I don't know on which website you are and where you have seen this. That's why
I've asked for the URL. ;-)

Please note that the Danish website is reachable via "da" and not "dk" - if
it's this what you have tried:
http://www.openoffice.org/da/download/

And in case of problems you can always go to the main download webpage (of
course, if English is no problem):
http://www.openoffice.org/download/

I hope this helps to get the newest AOO version.

I hope this information can help, as I am a very satisfied user of OpenOffice
and I have made donation although my creditcard was copied in the US, which is
the only place I have used it.

That sounds bad. I hope you hadn't big problems with your creditcard and its
company.

Thanks for your donation. :-)

Ps.: Please give me an answer.

sure, we can try to give you an answer. But we need more details:

- What's the URL you want to download from?
- What's happening when downloading?
- Do you get any error message(s)?
- If so, please give us the exact wording.

Thanks

Marcus
