You are correct, with one exception.
Modules loaded from modules.sqfs during booot are written to
/var/lib/lrpkg/sqfs.modules
and saving modules will not save those.
Andrew explained his decision in previous mails.

To be able to delete modules.sqfs and save *all* modules into moddb.lrp a new
option has been added to leaf.cfg.

While I understand your concerns, and appreciate it, though I also respect
Andrews explanations - at last the one who writes the code has an advantage :)

I'd like to have this issue on our agenda, maybe we'll rethink the decision,
maybe we'll find a better solution - maybe user feedback will help to make the
decision! Therefor, I'd like to get a 5.2 version done. Betas and rcs are not
adopted widely without feedback... so a final version will hopefully improve
this situation.

Yes there i no "logic" - misworded on my side.
Question has been, can we shrink moddb.lrp to a placeholder with zero bytes
until it's needed (removed modules.sqfs)?

Andrew stated that it could be useful for systems where the modules.sqfs does
not fit.
This should be improved in some way.

Yes. But first steps first.
