On names, Lucene Java might hit trademark issues I guess. So potential worry there.
Good point. Although I note that Apache already has projects called "Xerces Java" and "Xalan Java". Sun says:
http://www.sun.com/policies/trademarks/#20c
So, technically, the fullname of the product should be "Lucene for the Java platform", which we might sometimes abbreviate "Lucene Java".
