owfs does support telnet (RFC2217) control of the serial port for most of the serial adapters. It was tested with ser2net.
For example, with a DS9097U adapter, instead of /opt/owfs/bin/owserver -d /dev/ttyS0 do /opt/owfs/bin/owserver -d 192.168.1.23:10001 # assuming that's the right address and port. This has been tested with the DS9097U, DS9097E, LINK and HA5.
