Thanks for that info, Dave. I was afraid of something like the Java
installer becoming a problem.

I've been teetering on the brink of getting CC for a year now, but I
may continue holding out for a while more. Sierra is the very first
Mac OS X version that completely disinterests me, and if I simply
avoid upgrading to it then I can also avoid CC for a while longer.

Sierra features: I don't need or want Siri. I already talk to my pets
too much and I'm not about to start talking to my computer as well.
Besides, I really dislike input devices that include a huge amount of
randomness like touch screens and voice recognition. Keyboards and
mice positively do what you direct them to do.

As I run down the remaining checkbox items on the features list there
isn't a compelling thing there. Most of the features require either an
Apple Watch or an iPhone to be useful and I have neither. Many
features are just iOS influences. iCloud figures large in there --
don't need it. Photos app? Useless. Messages? Don't use. Float video
over my desktop while I work? Pxzt! Who thinks that's a good idea?
