The tower is all steel so why wont the lightning hit the entire tower and guy ropes .Wether they are shorted to the tower or not a lightning hit will run through all the setup.I have had a VHF antenna hit with lightning and the tower was a1 ok and the antenna was blowen to pieces .All commercial communication towers here in aus are done with big earthing straps into the ground especially the anchors that are in concrete.
