Now that Yves has done enough surgery to allow the notation editor to display this anacrusis example (attached) correctly, I've been looking at the LilyPond side of things.
If I export this file, I can hack it manually so that it's almost working by tweaking the \skip: - \skip 4 \skip 1*3 + \skip 4 \skip 1 \skip 4*3 I haven't made any real headway working out where the \skip 1*3 is coming from, and how to alter its behavior to write out something more like the second example. I have gotten far enough along to establish that as the heart of the puzzle though. -- D. Michael McIntyre
