As far as I know, that's the plan.

I do, just because there's so much out there that assumes drums will play on 
channel 10, and assumes instrument #10 will play on channel 10, even without 
the percussion check box being checked.  More things are likely to work "out 
of the box" with #10 defaulting to being fixed on channel 10.

That's just the default to go for when loading an old composition, which can't 
contain any information about which way this fixed/auto setting should swing.  
I never suggested that the setting itself should somehow be locked in this 
position; merely that we should line it up in this fashion by default, in the 
absence of sufficient information to know what to do.

Which reminds me that we should update the factory autoload.rg we ship with, 
to make sure it _does_ contain information about the fixed/auto setting.
