I don't have time to get into a thoughtful analysis, but we should definitely do a thoughtful and thorough analysis of as many different classes of synths as possible before designing a new model. The amount of variability out there is pretty extreme, and the current model suffers for being too centered on GM. At the moment, I only have vague ideas about where to start exploring to define the requirements of the larger problem that would need to be addressed in designing a more flexible and less complex model. Your proposal might be satisfactory, but I'm not remotely prepared to declare it as such without considerable research. -- D.
