[Blind-Computing] RE, Bluetooth headset and computer
I tried to do this with my Pac Mate, and couldn't get it to work either. What I had to do was plug in a Bluetooth Audio Adapter to the Pac Mate, then pair that with my Bluetooth headset. The audio adapter plugs into the phone jack. I'm using Jabra equipment. [Blind-Computing] RE Having problems with MS Word 2007
Just to make sure you are in the right place, to remove a program, go to control panel, and the Programs and Features item. There you will find the program listed that you want to remove. The last time that I asked for your help, one of you told me to uninstall the student version that came with my computer because it was creating a conflict but I do not have the disk. The program was already installed on the computer. I tried to use the remove feature, but I was not able to remove it. I am using windows vista and I am not very familiar with it. I do not know what else to do at this point. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I hope that some of you will be able to help me with this mess. I want to be able to fully use my HP computer because the computer that I am using now is not that great and I am attending college, so I want to have a reliable computer. [Blind-Computing] LAN is erratic
I have a local area network between two computers. Sometimes I can access files, sometimes I can't. For example, this morning I went to My Network Places, and could see folders on the other computer. As soon as I entered on one, they disappeared. Couldn't find them back and rebooting didn't help. So I ran the set up wizard on both computers, and now I can access files and print , since the printer is attached to the other computer. Sometimes I can access files, but can't print. Re: [Blind-Computing] Text-Rich text files3
Rich text files retain much of the formatting from other formats. For example, if you change a Word document into RTF, you will have your tabs, fonts, formatting intact. Boldl will still be bold, italic will still be italic. A plain text file will remove almost all the formatting in a document, leaving you with just the text. The advantage of a Rich Text file is that it can be easily opened in various word processors. That's why we, at Optasia Ministry, put most of our files into RTF format, to make sure our users can open them no matter what computer or word processor they are using. I convert a document to plain text sometimes if I want to remove all the formatting, which in a limited number of situations, has some value. If you are using a device like the PAC Mate, it is also easy to access RTF files with the FS Edit program that comes with PM Blessings, Tom Vos Date: Fri, 11 Jun 2010 11:43:52 -0400 From: Kathy Pingstock kpingst...@zoominternet.net To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: [Blind-Computing] text-rich text files Message-ID: 000901cb097c$e488b3f0$ad9a1b...@net Content-Type: text/plain;charset=US-ASCII This might sound dumb What is the difference between a text file and a rich text one? Hope you've got a light probe or can get a set of eyes. Once I had my computer rebuilt from the Trojans, each time I turned it on, my Linksys adapter would not come on. I literally had to go into Control Panel under connections and hook up to my wireless again. Eventually, my Linksys adapter wasn't coming on at all. I called in a set of eyes. Problem, no light was showing on the Linksys adapter. I think I may have dropped it. It's not quite two years old. Anyway, went to Best Buy and for $46 got a Qwest wireless adapter. Tab until you find a checkbox called enable protected mode at startup, uncheck it, choose yes on the warning you will get to continue. But that seems to be only in adobe reader? You need to disable protected view first to get it to work well with Jaws. Do the following: 1. From either your desktop or start menu, press enter on Adobe. The Adobe window is now open, press control + K, to open preferences. Another way to get to preferences is after pressing enter on the Adobe shortcut, press Alt + E, for the edit menu, arrow up to preferences, press enter. 3. When preferences opens you will be in a tree view and should be on the General page, if not arrow up or down until you have General highlighted. It is #4 of 29. Tab until you find a checkbox called enable protected mode at startup, uncheck it, choose yes on the warning you will get to continue. You need to look at 1 more setting so, tab until you have General highlighted again. 4. With General highlighted, press the letter I, until you have Internet highlighted. 5. Tab to, Display PDF in browser, if this box is checked press the spacebar to uncheck it. 6. Tab to the okay button, press enter to close preferences save your changes, press Alt + F4 to close Adobe. If I have missed something or if there is something that should be added, would someone please jump in correct me?! Hope this helps. Take care. [Blind-Computing] lost folders?
Hi list, I seem to have had a virus on an external drive or somewhere in my system, that basically created shortcuts on any removable media I will attach to the computer. After scanning the system and getting rid of whatever virus there was, the result was that the folders on the external drives can't be seen. I know they're there because when I check the file properties I can see that the drive is not empty. Question. How can I restore the folder? I mean make them visible again? And for future reference, what process did this virus use to achieve making the drive appear to be empty? Many thanks. Anthony. I use the send to method when I'm sending songs to a friend of mine in Maine. I've sent him quite a few songs using this method. That's the easiest method for me to use when sending attachments. Thanks for sharing this tip with us. Rosemarie -Original Message- From: Mike B. It can be My Documents folder, C drive, D drive, Desktop or anywhere in Windows. In order to put your files and folder at your favourite place, each time you have to follow either of these two classic methods : Note: I know all of you know these basic things, but their is something else which i want to tell you all. Just keep reading it First Method 1. Select your file or folder which you want to move or copy 2. Right click to display a context menu 3. Click Copy or Cut 4. Go to the location where you want to put your file or folder 5. Right click to display a context menu 6. Click Paste Second Method 1. Select your file or folder which you want to move or copy 2. Press CTRL + C to copy or CTRL + X to cut (move) 3. Go to the location where you want to put your file or folder 4. Press CTRL + V to paste it Following the above steps looks easy but when there is a way to speed up the whole process, than why not use that option. Whenever you right click any file or folder, (you noticed or not) their is an option of Send To in the context menu. The shortcut key for it after pressing the application key is letter, N. By default, there are some limited options available in that menu, but you can add your own folder or location over there and than can easily copy any file or folder to your favorite folder or location instantly. But before moving ahead, let's see what the default options available in the Send To menu are. Default Options In The Send To Menu Right click any file or a folder and select the Send To option from the menu. For example, at one of my PC these are the options available in the Send To menu. Let me tell you briefly about the most common options of the Send To menu : Compressed (zipped) Folder : Clicking this option will quickly creates a compressed file (Zip file) and copies the selected files or folders to it. Desktop (create shortcut) : Clicking this option will create a shortcut of your file or folder on the desktop. My Documents or Documents : Clicking this option will create a Copy of the selected file or folder to the Documents folder. Fax Recipient : Clicking this option will allows you to send the file as a fax via the Windows Fax and Scan tool. (you need to configure windows to work like that) Mail Recipient : Clicking this option will allows you to easily attach a file to an e-mail message. (It will only work if you have installed any email client. For e.g. Ms-Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird etc.) CD/DVD RW drive : Clicking this option will create a Copy of the selected file or folder to the CD/DVD drive, so that you can burn your documents easily on the CD/DVD. USB drive : Clicking this option will create a Copy of the selected file or folder to the USB drive (if it's already plugged into your computer) 3 1/2 Floppy (A:) : Clicking this option will create a Copy of the selected file or folder to the floppy drive (if you have that in your computer) How To Add Any Folder In The Send To Menu After knowing much about the Send To menu, now let's see how you can add your favorite folder in it. By doing that you can easily copy your files / folders by simply right clicking it. Note: You can also add Copy To or Move To option in your right click menu, but I recommend that method only to those people who know what they are doing. Go to the location of your favorite folder, Right Click it, click Send To and select Desktop (create shortcut) It will instantly create a shortcut on the desktop of your folder. Now go to your Desktop and Right click the Shortcut folder and select Rename. Just remove the word Shortcut from it or Rename it whatever you want. In Win XP 1. Click Start Menu 2. Click RUN 3. Type, shell:sendto, and click enter. In Win 7 1. Click Start Menu. 2. Type
