Re: [Dx4win] Question

2022-11-17 Thread Alan Zack
I agree. You can set up filters to download only a portion of the log.
Example only your IOTA contacts or contacts to a certain country or
contest only. Or you will have a huge adif file of all your QSO's with
no filters..

from the main menu, File>Import/Export>ADIF should be the top choice
to use. Just export your current log (which is the .DXL you are using
at the
time) to ADIF using this process.

There are no prefixes per-se for Chesterfield. You have to match
the correct callsign with the days of activity.

Only these operations (full callsigns) counted for that DXCC entity,
and only during the dates shown. The second date is one day later
than the day of last activity.

Hello Berkin,

Make sure you are using the latest country file (dx4win.cty) from AD1C. If
you are using version 9, use Help > Check for Updates from the menu bar at
top. For version 8 or older, use the Data Updater program:

Re: [Dx4win] Question

2022-08-21 Thread Jerry N9AW
Hi John,
If you want to export specifically in order to submit your QSOs to LOTW
then you will want to use the LOTW | Submit to LOTW pull down menu. Using
this assumes you will only submit those QSO that have the LOTW Upload flag
set to Y. Using this method will ensure that if you add QSOs to the log,
then only your added QSOs will be exported to go to LOTW. And, again, the
criteria for selection are those QSOs that have the LOTW Upload field
marked as Y. There is a setting in Preferences so that all new QSOs will
automatically be marked with a Y for LOTW upload, so you don't have to mark
them manually.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Re: [Dx4win] Question

2022-05-31 Thread Tim moore
Here's what I do for EVERYTHING .every piece of equipment in the shack.
If I don't already have a copy of the manual in pdf file format, I grab
one. Most come with that file now days, but almost all have that file
available on their website. Then, I put a shortcut for that file on my
desktop. All of them are theirin my case...my DX4WIN logging software
user manual, my FTDX 101D manual, my FTDX 10 manual, my FT991A manual, my
Ameritron ALS 1306 manual, my MFJ 998 autotuner manual..Green Heron
rotator controller, HyGain DCU3 manual.ok.the
list.goes on and on and on. There is no printing of manuals in this
shack. Then, simply open the file when you have ANY QUESTION on ANY PRODUCT
you useand in Adobe Acrobot (the software app that reads pdf files), do
a "Control F". That is the command for FIND (you could also go up top and
look for FINDbut why waste yet more time?). Then type in whatever on
earth you want to get an answer to. Like in this case, you had a question
about the QSO window in DX4WIN. Merely open up the DX4WIN user manual pdf
file, do CONTROL F, type in "QSO window". Yes, it may come up with several
places in the manaul where info shows up (on some commands, in fact, it
could be MANY occurences!)but just keep quickly glancing at the info it
brought upand hit "NEXT" in the find windowuntil it comes up with
EXACTLY what you want to know. BINGO! You're good to go!

I have ALL my shack computerized and tied together with modern equipment.
It would be almost impossible to memorize EVERY single command or thing
about all those software commands for the various equipment/software (I use
HDSDR with OmniRig for an external panadapter, so there's more extensive
commands/info I need to have at my fingertips in the software realmfor
instance). With the pdf file, that 300 page manual...or in my caseMANY
manuals...some quite largeare just little icons on my desktop. No
printing of manuals (I haven't looked at a printed manual in.ok. I've
lost trackwell over a decade for sure!). No digging through manuals. No
searching long periods of time for some command/info. Just open the user
manual file, CONTROL F, type in the subject want info/guidance
on..bingo.

Maybe someone can help with this one.

I am going through all my logs, trying to confirm QSL cards I found, some 40
years old and I am trying to show they were received and confirmed. My
entry window lost the bottom three entry windows to show the QSL received
and confirmed.
I lost it under the Notes for this QSO and cannot figure out how to put it
back on the screen.
It shows the QSL date and confirmations.

I looked in that big book and still can't find it. How to put it back on
the screen.

Any help for this old man would be appreciated

You can do this by exporting your log as DX4WIN9 format, editing the
resulting .DXQ file (using search/replace in a plain text editor like
Notepad), then importing those QSOs back into DX4WIN, letting them
replace your existing QSOs.

The best way to do this would be to use an F8 filter to export only
the QSOs you want to change, using a combination of start/end dates,
as well as possibly searching for matching text in the existing "Notes
for this QSO" field. The ideal situation is if you can export *only*
the QSOs you want to change, i.e. change all the QSOs whose existing
"Notes for this QSO" fields are all the same.

If you don't feel comfortable doing this, you can send me your log
(.DXL file as an attachment) and tell me *exactly* what changes you
want made, and exactly which QSOs to change.

Re: [Dx4win] Question about Notes for this QSO field

2021-03-11 Thread Tim moore
You can make MASS changes for a particular call sign, with the "NOTES FOR
THIS CALL" field. I've gone in after working a certain station dozens of
timesand entered a note in the NOTES FOR THIS CALL field that says
something like "owns FTDX101D and PR40 mic"for instance, so every time
in the future I work that call, I see that note associated with his call.
You can do it at ANY TIME you work them. IE, if you do it on the 10th time
you work em', the other 9 earlier QSOs will of course have that same note
you entered on the 10th time...ifentered in the NOTES FOR THIS CALL.

The NOTES FOR THIS QSOlogically, ONLY makes notes for that specific
contact. those notes are NOT carried over to other QSOs.

So answering your specific question, I don't think there is any way to do
what you are askingother thanto enter them EACH manually as you
noted. Others can correct me if I'm wrong

Was it the same version of DX4WIN in both cases? I can not recall

If I go back into File/Awards/WPX, I still see only 12 meters checked for
award bands. When I hit OK, the spots that were previously red in the DX

Anyone know what else I need to do? Again, I don't change anything in

Re: [Dx4win] Question on the ver 9

2018-04-09 Thread Tim moore
Another thing in Preferences >Screen is to set the Scale Factor to 150
(default is 100). This will make that window bigger. Also, you can
experiment with the fonts and font sizes for the 3 different listings
Heading, Input and Listbox. I've found that also changes window sizes.
Even setting Bold on for one or two of those windows, changes the
size/appearance of not JUST the text, but also...in some casesthe
window itself. I wanted to move the Packet Window and DX Spots window to my
second monitor screenand put them above my HDSDR software radio
application. My second Monitor screen is larger and easier for me to read.
I wanted those two windows to be larger and easier to read at a glance. I
kept playing with fonts and font sizes until i got EVERYTHING to look
better. I also wanted the main window (the window you were talking about
changing) to be larger and easier to read at a glance. I'm running Scale
Factor at 150, Font sizes for the three items at 10 or 11and no longer
running Fixedsys for a font (instead running fonts like Arial) I'm running
2 of the 3 items as Bold, which also makes a difference. I'm at work, so I
can't tell you EXACTLY the combinationsbut try playing with these
settings, it makes a pretty big difference on window sizes.

Hello Mike,

I don’t think it is possible to resize that window by dragging the sides
around. You do that with the some of the others to display more or less
information, but in the QSO window you do it with the F5 key to display more
or fewer fields. Changing the Scale Factor and font sizes will help, but
this changes all of the windows together.

Re: [Dx4win] question (FT8)

2017-09-29 Thread Dan Violette
Many of use change the mode to "TOR". This leave the 3 characters in the
ADIF, you can have TQSL convert TOR to FT8 upon upload, and when DX4WIN
(version 9 in beta) comes out you can sort by TOR and change to FT8
(assuming you have not used TOR for real - it is not an ADIF mode so should
never have been used). I even change the WSJT-X mode in the ADI file to TOR
after I transfer (find/replace) so I can keep the ADI file for checking for
worked before and I can specify "Ignore Duplicate QSOs" when I import so I
don't get doubles

Subject: [Dx4win] question

I have been uploading JT65 logs and JT65 shows up in the mode block.
However, I recently started using FT8 and when I upload to DX4WIN the mode
block shows SSB. How do I change that, if I can? Of do I need to wait until
the next version?

I have been uploading the adif file direct to LOTW to bypass the DX4WIN
upload, so I can get credit for contacts.

Re: [Dx4win] question

2017-04-05 Thread David Kozinn, K2DBK

Hi Ian,

I can't speak for the author regarding why it works that way, and I
agree that I'd prefer to have it come up with a empty QSO log field as
well as automatically connecting to the packet.

I'm happy to share my Autohotkey script, but please understand that I'm
not an AHK expert. I'll do my best to help as best I can, but I can't
promise anything. Also, this is nothing like one of AD1C's nicely
polished programs, but hopefully it'll work as a starting point for some
of you. Autohotkey has some far more sophisticated functionality, but
the script here is pretty close to just brute force.

First, you'll need a copy of Autohotkey which you can download from
https://autohotkey.com/

There are tutorials there and that's where you can go for help. You'll
want to put this script into the AHK startup file (instructions to edit
that file are included in the help). I've got it set to invoke the AHK
sequence when I type Windows+Z. (Why that? It wasn't used for anything
else on my machine.)

Script starts below:

#z::
IfWinNotExist Packet Window
{
Run C:\ham Program Files\dx4w805\dx4win.exe
Sleep 4500
}

IfWinExist Packet Window
{
WinActivate
Send {Enter}{Enter}{Enter}{F7}{F9}{F9}
}

IfWinExist K2DBK sorted by Date
{
WinActivate
Send {F9}
}

; end of script

Here's what it does: First, if it finds that there's no window named
"Packet Window" (the name of the Packet Window in D4W), it runs the D4W
executable. You'll probably need to change the location of the
executable. The Sleep 4500 tells it to wait a bit so that all the
windows can finish opening. This is the number of milliseconds, so
that's 4 1/2 seconds. You may need to tune that as well.

Next, if it finds that the Packet Window is open, it makes it active,
sends 3 Enters, which causes the packet site selection window to open
and selects the first cluster site in that window. (For recent versions,
that will be the last one you used.) I have F7 in the packet window set
to send my callsign. You can change this, or you could just have it send
your callsign right from the script if you want. The next couple of F9's
should cause it to go to the QSO entry window and blank the entry field,
but I think I need to adjust the timing since it doesn't quite work right.

The next block of code is finds the main QSO entry window (that's the
title it has for me, you'll need to change that), makes it the active
window, and sends an F9 to clear it.

Again, this is purely a "good enough for me" kind of thing. I can try to
provide some suggestions to folks, but depending on how you have D4W
configured you may have to make some minor changes or possibly it won't
work at all for you.

On 4/5/2017 5:29 PM, Ian Trusson wrote:

But why, when DX4WIN starts, doesn't it come up automatically with the QSO
entry blank? Every time I start DX4WIN I have to hit F9 so the frequency of
my radio is received into the QSO window from the radio via the CAT
connection and the frequency is sent to my Expert 1K-FA amplifier to set the
ATU for the correct frequency sub band. When I first switch on before
hitting F9 I hear nothing from my receiver because the ATU is not tuned!

However DX4WIN has always had this problem so I guess it will not get
changed any time soon so any further detailed info you could provide about
using AutoHotKey to overcome the F9 problem and automatically connect the
packet window could be very useful to many of us.

I haven't seen it actually log the contact. It does pull up the last entry,
but it's filled with all the info (time, date, frequency, etc) from the QSO

For an overkill solution, you could use AutoHotKey and script it to blank
out that field (a few F9's). I use it to set up my "operating environment",
which includes connecting the packet window and a few other things.

I have been asking myself the same. The only way I have been able to
make it work is to enter

"enabled" box in the "Ext Data" settings, then

1. Enter a call sign
2. Hit F3

4. Your web browser opens and shows the data

There is a chance this is how it is intended. However the manual/help

I don't think you can get a popup alert, but if you have the award
window up for that award (the one that shows worked/confirmed/submitted)
you could see that there's an unconfirmed slot.

The window I'm talking about (for country) looks like this (not sure if
this will work to the reflector):

I seem to have all my slots filled for the US. :-)

Here's a better example:

The current station in the QSO window in this case is a German station
on digital mode. I need a 30m digital confirmation, so I'd know that I'd
need a QSL if I were to make a contact with him.

When I File/ Import, then select (look) for the location of the NA

Each of my NA contest subdirectories contains a number of files, two

files or any other files as a source selection. What am I not doing right?

For CT contest files, the .bin file contains the QSO data, however in

Re: [Dx4win] Question???

2012-03-06 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
It seems to me that you indicated some weeks ago that you anticipated doing
something, I think with DX4W, to allow an operator to make some sense (and
more reasonable) search within the document the League put out for the
 Diamond DXCC project.

Hi Karl,

I was going to do one of two things:

1. Create DX4WIN Custom Award for Diamond DXCC

2. Create conversion problem like I did for CQ DX Marathon

So far, I have had time to do neither. At this point, #1 looks
easier, but only benefits DX4WIN users.

I need to get country files released, among other things. When that's
done, I'll think about this.

Hi Franz,

I have excatly same problem here, DX all band/mode marks everything else
than OH qso's (ie your own dxcc). I think there is no easy way to solve
this, maybe you can make some custom award and mark domestic qso's with
it, but I am not sure if it's possible at all, as I am not expert with
dx4win.

One way to overtake problem is find a friend from other dxcc and send your
log to him, for mark qso's...

Do not upgrade version 8.01 or 8.02, as there is no DX all band/mode
feature at all!!!

Re: [Dx4win] Question about YT4AY

2009-10-14 Thread Kostas Stamatis
Jim you must count it for Serbia
Card has no sense according DXCC. Don't forget that i have a card for a
similar calll which says Bosnia but ARRL says no it is Serbia. The station
i had worked replied to me and offered himself to send another card with his
T9 call on it. I believe that some stations from Bosnia had continued to
work with old calls after 10th of May 1993 and this makes the confusion.
It's a question how dx4win country file must work: don't forget i have a
credit for that yu4 station as Bosnia (i had sent a card and ARRL never got
it back) but i believe that anyone sends a card today, ARRL will count it as
Serbia! So what dx4win must show? This is the question. My opinion is that
dx4win must help anyone makes the application for 1st time. So dx4win must
show what arrl says. Ofcourse i must change the country file anytime i am
installing it to have my records ok and this means that the country file
will not be accurate for some olders. These must find a solution as i did: i
changed the call to T9/YU4.. and i made a note in my log that i have really
worked the YU4..

I'm trying to fix a problem in the DX4WIN Country file.

Has *anyone* received DXCC Credit for YT4AY after 10 May 1993, and was
the credit given for Serbia or Bosnia? Don't rely on the award flags
in DX4WIN, check your paper records if you have them. DX4WIN counts
this as Bosnia (E7/T9) but I really think it should be Serbia, YU as
at least one person claims he has received DXCC credit for Serbia for
that call. The DXCC desk says:

 YU4 - Oct 10, 1991 to May 10, 1993
 T9 - May 11, 1993 through August 7, 2007
 E7- Current prefix effective August 8, 2007

The design of DX4WIN has not changed in this area. You can avoid
sudden shutdowns by buying a battery-powered UPS.

In 12 years, I have not lost a single QSO due to power (only operator error).

How to do?

Bob, W1EQ

Hi Bob,

Do the F8 search as you suggested.

Then File - Import/Export

Export your log to DX4WIN6 format. It will ask you if you want to use
the filter. Answer Yes.

Then open (create) a new log, and import those QSOs you just exported,
using the DX4WIN6 format.

I have many QSOs to enter manually. What is the most efficient manner to  do

L stands for Label (qsl)

Yes there is when you make the proper listing in your Logbook report
Right clicking in your logbook gives you the possibility to edit this
listing

If you don´t wan´t the confirmed you have to make a selection with F8 first

After that you have to write a csv file that can be imported in Excel

In the manual is this explication also
