How about anything in the verbosity; see if it's is on some, or the standard

That's interesting. I am running Windows 7, JAWS 18, and Mike B's

know, by the way.

Thanks, Mike.

I'm having the same experience: Typing "list" into the JAWS quick settings
edit field produces no results. I did the same in the JAWS settings center,
where I get five unrelated results. In both cases, I did so in IE and
Firefox. windows Win7, JAWS 2018 ( current release). I'm wondering if some
other setting is preventing this option from appearing in certain systems.

Type, List, into the search field and wait for the the results to populate.
Arrow down to, Lists identify Show Start and End, checked. Uncheck this

Hi Again Dave,

Okay I just gave the latest version another run, and the only way I was able
to use this new version as far as scanning in Windows and Application
modes, but not able to find the results was use the Touch Cursor plus other
cursor calisthenics. Doing the first run using the clean button / checkbox
is no problem, but now the cursor calisthenics begin. I think this new
version is now doable, but it will just require more effort. I was able to
clean the Registry and view the results of this scan with no problem, so I'm
taking back my statement that it's not accessible, but I will say that it's
not nearly as accessible using the cleaning options as versions 5.40 and
earlier. Now, this is all based on a loose definition of accessible! LOL

Gerald,

I'll jump in here, as well. I'm using version 5.42.6495. Windows 7 32-bit
Professional SP 1.Using JAWS 2018 latest build, but works all the way back
to version 16, as well. As I tab through the program, I land on buttons. I
press a button with the spacebar, and continue to tab, as there are now
other buttons resulting. e.g. if I tab past the Tools button, I land on the
next button -- Options. But is I select Tools, Uninstall, Startup, Browser
Plug Ins, etc. With continual Tabbing, I come back around to the first
button "Check for Updates".

If I select the Uninstall button, and tab enough, I land on a list view,
showing all my installed programs. I can navigate this list using the
up/down arrows, as well as first-letter navigation to jump quickly to a
particular program.

There are times when I select from a list and select an action like remove,
where I lose focus. Then all I do is Alt-tab away and back in to CCleaner
and tab back to the list. IF that is not accessible, then I have several
other programs that are totally worse.

That's reassuring. But Piriform has been known to play games with its
customers, and just because no unwanted software is installed along with
CCleaner 5.42 does not necessarily mean that Piriform won't again try to
sneak in unwanted software in a future release of CCleaner. And according to
the moderator of the Tech Talk list, CCleaner 5.42 may not be accessible.
Is this true?

That's reassuring. But Piriform has been known to play games with its
customers, and just because no unwanted software is installed along with
CCleaner 5.42 does not necessarily mean that Piriform won't again try to
sneak in unwanted software in a future release of CCleaner. And according to

Yes, I've been using the same settings for quite a long time now, and

Hi Mike. To check CCleaner's cleaning results, I usually just read
the window contents with say all or examine the screen with the Jaws
cursor. However, since I know full well how I've configured CCleaner,
I'm confident that I want it to delete what it does.
The registry cleaner consists of check boxes whose state Jaws does
not report. I use another screen reader (or even Narrator) to
determine the state of those check boxes and then leave the registry
portion configured. Once you configure those 15 check boxes, CCleaner
will always clean your registry according to what you've set, even
across updates.

No, but Firefox V 60 should be coming out this month. It's supposed to work
with the latest Jaws. You could in the meantime do what a lot of others have
done and has been recommended by VFO and use the ESR version to keep up on
security updates.
I'm currently running Firefox ESR Version 52.7.4 that I just updated this

You should just be able to copy them in to the broser config file by doing
JAWS+0 and putting them at the end, re-compile.
I Can test it on my machine tomorrow.

No, it should be 1803, which is the code for the latest Windows 10 release,

Re: [JAWS-Users] What Happened to CCleaner Slim Version?

2018-05-02 Thread Orlando Enrique Fiol

[JAWS-Users] repost of message re stand for Focus-40 and keyboard

2018-05-02 Thread JOHN RIEHL
Hi. I never got a response to my message re where I can get a stand that
will fit my keyboard and let the Focus fit neatly under it.

So I'm reposting.

Hi, folks. I just got my brand new Focus-40 blue Braille display.

Unfortunately, I'm trying to figure out how to place it relative to my
keyboard. Years ago, work got me (and some other blind folks) really nice
metal trays - the keyboard would sit on the tray and the Braille display (a
focuss-80, as it happens) fits snugly right in front, a bit under the
keyboard. That way I can type conveniently and easily read the Braille
display. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and, if so, where can I
get one of these keyboard stands?

Unfortunately the person who got these is gone and the current Disability
accommodations folks don't know what I'm talking about.

Thanks!

John

While on a webpage open Jaws quick settings with, Insert / Jaws key + V.
Type, List, into the search field and wait for the the results to populate.
Arrow down to, Lists identify Show Start and End, checked. Uncheck this

Re: [JAWS-Users] What Happened to CCleaner Slim Version?

2018-05-02 Thread Mike B.

Hi Orlando,

I don't know what your definition of accessible is, but when I tried using
CCleaner versions 5.41 & 5.42 I couldn't find what had been cleaned during
the Windows cleaning, I couldn't shift + tab back to the Applications
cleaning, & getting to the Registry clening option I wasn't going to trust
since the other options wer acting quirky. This was with Windows 7 Pro,
running J16, thru J2018 latest. This also happened with the portable
versions of CCleaner 5.41 & 5.42.

Rest assured that CCleaner 5.42 is as accessible as all previous versions. I
generally take inaccessibility rumors with several generous grains of salt
until I try them out and determine for myself their accessibility level.

Hmm. It has worked the same way for me over several past versions. If that's
a screwed-up mess, then as I said, there are many programs that would

No, but Firefox V 60 should be coming out this month. It's supposed to work

[JAWS-Users] jaws and firefox quantum

2018-05-02 Thread Don Raikes
Hi,

Is there any version of jaws that works with the new firefox quantum?

I am interested in upgrading firefox to obtain any security updates, but I
remember hearing that there are problems with firefox quantum and jaws,
buthaven't heard if the issues have been fixed.

Any info would be appreciated.

Re: [JAWS-Users] What Happened to CCleaner Slim Version?

2018-05-02 Thread Dave...Oregonian
Gerald,

Hmm. It has worked the same way for me over several past versions. If that's
a screwed-up mess, then as I said, there are many programs that would
qualify for that award. I find it very easy to use, even if it doesn't have
any standard menu structure.

Hi Tom,

The easiest way to add a keystroke for this is to add the item to the Quick
Access Toolbar by opening a new message, finding in the Message tab the High
Importance button, pressing APPLICATIONS or SHIFT+F10 and choosing Add to Quick
Access Toolbar item. If you haven't added nor removed anything from the Quick
Access Toolbar for the message editing window the High Importance button should
be the fourth item, so it would be assigned to ALT+4.
Since ALT+NUMBER keystrokes are assigned in JAWS for reading Outlook message
headers, you will have to press JAWS+3 before using the abobe mentioned
keystroke.

Hope it helps!

This also happened with the portable
versions of CCleaner 5.41 & 5.42.

generally take inaccessibility rumors with several generous grains of salt

I wonder if downloading the media creation tool and then creating an

some others that I am sure will come across my door step.

Does anybody have any thoughts on the matter?

Good Morning Head Honcho,

Well, you will have one hell of a time updating to 1809, that one isn't out
yet! LOL LOL But, if you are referring to Windows 10 1803, there is a
Media Creation Tool available. I updated Monday, and it went smooth as a
babies bottom just letting the computer do its own thing. I'll get back to
you with a link for the Media Creation Tool.

Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!

Hello, everyone.

Does anyone know of a key stroke for designating an e-mail as "high importance"
in Outlook 2016?

I can get to the high importance designation via the menus, but would like a
specific key stroke for doing this if that is available.

Am using the latest build of Jaws 2018 on a windows 7 laptop here.

Thanks as always!
