Agree. But the icon doesn't look like the real component. The icon looks

However the first project manager will just be a simple list of projects.

I droped a TImageList, added some 16X16 pixels bitmaps with a fuchsia

each image index to the buttons and menu items.
At design-time, when I first open the Imagelist dialog, the bitmaps
disappear from buttons and menu items.

Closing Lazarus and starting it again, and the bitmaps show up again.
That's anoying, but I can live with that.
The problem is that the images show up with the fuchsia background.
I think I have tried all the possible combinations of bkColor,
BlendColor, DrawingStyle, etc.. for the imagelist, but there is no way
to have transparency.
I loaded one more bitmap with a white background, and with bkColor and
BlendColor set to clWhite, it works.

Any hints?

I disagree about Zeoslib and Indy. Doesn't mean I don't like then, I
even use them. Both are HUGE packages. IMO, it's better for themselves
to be independent third-party components. Besides, they also must keep
the Delphi compatibility where they initially came from.

This is different with LazReport and VTV, especially the LazReport.
Though lazReport came from FreeReport but I see it as a 'branch' instead
of a port. Same thing also happens to SynEdit.

Currently, there are some components that don't meet your 'standard'
criteria. For example: IPro, SynEdit, and TDBF. Should we exclude them
on next release? ;)

TDBF is maintained by Micha Nelissen, who happens to be a Lazarus developer.
The synedit version used is Lazarus has had so many changes you cannot say we don't
maintain it.

IPro has had many changes too, by at least three different persons, so the Lazarus
team is able to maintain that too.

So all three meet the criteria of maintained by Lazarus developers.

Did'nt use VTV so far - but it looks like a good component to get a

For Zeos and Indy I disagree - there are working DB-Components in the

I agree too but afaik it is not really tested under OS X.
Additionally, as it was pointed out, that means there is a Lazarus Dev
in the laz team to maintain it.

I don't think beginners are the point, Really usefull and (always)
used should be considered instead.
There are already laz/fpc components to manage DB and they seem to be
good enough.
About IndY, honestly I would prefer lnet or Synapse for my part. And
as not anyone would agree with that, it cannot be directly included :
the choice can only be made by the developer. And there are already
usefull classes wihtin fpc. Most of app don't use IMAP connections for
example.

In fact it is not obvious :)

FreePascal supports different modes. In Delphi mode your code will work.
To turn on delphi mode add directive {$mode delphi} at the begining of
your unit.

In default FreePascal mode you should write OnClick := @UpDownClick;

I'm trying the new SVN Lazarus version (really good).

I think will be a really useful imrovement ability (finally) the
docking on all the IDE forms.

What do you think about?

P.S: I have just try to dock a form in a TPanel control and seems to
works fine (problems only on Win32 interface) so I think will be OK
also enable a basic docking without animation or extra features.

[lazarus] Working with different versions of lazarus

2007-12-20 Thread ik
Hello,

My stable version of lazarus is 0.9.24, however I do check Lazarus
svn from time to time, and usually I change the .lazarus directory
depends on the version I wish to check.
Is there a way to tell Lazarus to store information regarding he
specific version I'm using instead of working like that ?

Thanks,
Ido

The SVG is important to make an icon in 512x512 under OS X :p

Try running the next example. If it works, then the imagelist is doing
something wrong, else the lcl.

I thought it was a pawn print of a cheetah. But it is not very clear,
you have to 'know' it to see it.

(I have svg source)
In principle it is fine, but it just looks like a grey blob on my
screen. What colour background are you designing your icons against ?
I have just a traditional mid grey, default on win32. While most of
your icons look very good, quite a few lack contrast. Example - the
toggle form/unit button isn't very clear, yet in its depressed state, it
is fine.

Also, using a paw print as an icon is fine (the current cheetah on the
column is also completely unintelligible unless you know what it is),
but if you replace ALL the cheetahs with paw prints every one will
forget what it means. The new splash screen is fine as a watermark, and
could be used as such in many places, but at least on the splash screen
I think you should keep the cheetah on the column (on top of your
background). It is nice and cheeky, and really is a good graphical
statement of purpose.

cheers,

John Sunderland

I found out too... default the smallest is shown here, after opening and
