Hi, I don’t really understand this option. With paragraphs, it’s like flushright, but the last line is right-indented. Within typing, in your eaxmple it’s flushright except the first line; with my code examples with long lines it looks just flushleft without line breaking? Would you please explain? the setup commands and their table, or use \startsetup mytable ...
\stopsetup and \startTABLE[setups=mytable] if you need the same settings

What I've been finding is that previous settings on TABLES appearing
earlier in the document is impacting later tables. For instance, if
one has a frame to the right of column 1, then the next table seems to
acquire this setting as well, even if it isn't expected to have any
frames at all.
Note that each unique table is defined inside a macro.
How can I make these table settings only apply to the a specific table?

[NTG-context] can we do binding correction?
Hi, this question was rised in my ConTeXt beginners workshop* at Chemnitz Linux Days today: Can I configure binding correction for saddle-stitched or thread-bound booklets, and if, does it only work with arranging (imposition) or can I enable it somehow for the layout (if the printshop does the imposition)? Also I recognized I'm not sure about the difference of the layout parameters backspace and cutspace. Hraban *) 8 participants who endured 3 hours of me mostly talking… Further questions that I couldn't answer for sure were about PDF/A or PDF/UA and how color profiles are handled within ConTeXt and at printshops (my monitor is profiled, but I know I have to edit images "too bright" to have them look right in print). I need to investigate further before I can ask precise questions. Ok, if I leave imposition to the printshop and they don't do binding correction in their workflow, I'd need to set horoffset differently for every single page (i.e. first, second, second-to-last and last the same; 3th, 4th and from back the same etc.). Or is pageshift applied independently from arranging? And then, it makes no sense to add the same value all the time. I don’t know if BCOR works this way in LaTeX, but one value (paper thickness) should be enough in combination with an imposition schema. I.e. if I define a paper thickness and the number of pages that are in one booklet (as a single booklet or part of a "proper" book), then the page shift should work automatically. Well, for a single booklet, it could. In a book, booklets can have different numbers of pages, and then you'd need to define a list… Okay, too complicated. Following up on the other imposition question, I'm trying to make an
example file that shows an imposition schema according to command line
arguments.
This way it works for the number of pages, as used in
\dorecurse{\Pages}{…}, but not for the imposition schema. Typesetting

Thank you Willi! Generally I know for what binding correction is used, I just never tried to set it up. If I look carefully at one of our printed booklets, the printshop also didn’t. So I'd need pageshift without applying imposition (setting it up wouldn’t hurt). I didn’t think about vertical pageshift, but of course that’s also needed for cross-folded sheets. I'm not sure how (horizontal) pageshift is supposed to work with full page images without introducing white borders, but bleed at the inner edge should be enough. Theoretically the shift value should be the same as the paper thickness (don’t you think?), but there’s some deformation involved, so a factor might make sense? Unfortunately I threw out my old books on printing technology long ago, and my newer one doesn’t cover bookbinding (I’m not at home anyway). correction for a saddle stitch binding, not more than 4 pages in a
signature (only one fold in the middle) usually is 1/2 the
circumference of a circle with radius /r/, being /r/ the thickness of

\frac{π \times t \times s}{2}. I have not tried a formula for more
folds in a signature.
The thing is, you have to recalculate for each signature fold. The
innermost will have displacement zero, the second one a little bit
more, the third a little bit more, and on and on until we reach the
outermost signature.
However, it is necessary to say that unless you are using a
particularly thick paper, or you are using too many pages for a saddle
stitch bind (my personal and professional opinion would be no more
than 80, but better 60), the displacement is usually negligible.
For example, let's say the paper thickness is 0.1 mm (which is 0.0001
meters) and there are 40 pages in 10 signatures. The radius would be
0.0001 meters per signature * 10 signatures = 0.001 meters. Then, half
the circumference would be 1/2 * 3.14159 * 0.001 meters ≈ 0.0016
meters or 1.6mm at the last signature. Unless there was a displacement
of more than, say, 4 mm, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
E.g. our Bonn architectural guides
(https://www.dreiviertelhaus.de/reihen/afb/) are saddle-stitched
booklets, usually have 60 pages and are printed on 115g coated paper.
With coated paper you can’t really derivate the thickness from grammage.
The horizontal page shift is visible if you look carefully. But since
the paper is not very transparent, you only see the problem if you look
for it. I don’t arrange the pages myself, don’t know the signature size,
and I can’t request specials, since we must print cheaply to keep the
low price (had to raise it from 5 to 8 € anyway, half of it goes to the
wholesaler).

I think that this would be quite cumbersome, paper thickness of higly coated papers vs. novel-printing paper… I believe one would have to establish this thickness for each project unless the same paper is used... Don't you think that makes more sense than setting it for single pages? But while this is an interesting topic, it's one of these overly involved niche features in ConTeXt… I didn't care too much myself, and laypeople don't see it anyway. Unfortunately I threw out my old books on printing technology long ago, and my newer one doesn’t cover bookbinding (I’m not at home anyway). I think, that many printshops do not possess neither old books including bookbinding nor do they care about the wishes of the binder … Pity, that you threw them out, but i understand, that circumstances might be such that you have to take decisions… When we left Switzerland in 2012 for Freiburg (and then again Freiburg in 2013 for Kyrgyzstan), we had to drop ballast, and I still had too many books (if you can have too many books at all…). I had a lot on art techniques like calligraphy that I never used, and my printing technology stuff was outdated – well… The antiquarian gave me 30€ for a big pile of formerly expensive books, and he probably was generous. Since then I gained a publishing house and had to move three times, my moving helpers were not amused about that many book boxes. I don't understand why you name your file LaTeX, but that shouldn't
cause any error.
I'd never put any files in C-root, either (depending on your Windows
version, TeX might be prohibited to write there).

Indeed. Anyway I already use \quote. :-) My question was rather about
the apostrophe alone, like in it's, or don't, or l'orange,
l'homme, which typographically should be like the comma (i.e. the
single quotation mark). Therefore, you really have to use the symbol
itself in the input.
Just write your own keyboard mapping – at least for MacOSX or Linux
it’s rather easy.
E.g. my usual keymap gives access to all accented Latin plus Greek
and lots of other characters - I only keep forgetting what’s where,
though, and it still contains some bugs ;-)

+1 from me, there seems to be no alternative if your keyboard mapping
doesn’t allow to input such directly.
(Even if I like to encourage people to write their own enhanced
keymaps if theirs doesn’t contain what they need – my one gives me
all European characters except Cyrillic ’cause I don’t need it...)

For a songbook I need a alphabetically sorted TOC.
As easy workaround I tried to use an register/index.
But I'd like to get my headers into the index without typing \index
all the time.
But with my following setup I get only garbage numbers instead of my
titles:

I haven't tested you example but you can try my solution.
Thank you very much, but I'd like to stay with the index - I already
added index entries for all my first lines of lyrics.
These entries work, but I'd really like to know why I get those
numbers instead of my title strings.

[NTG-context] exploring register options
Can someone tell me, if the following options of \setupregister are supposed to have some effect (I couldn't see any): style (pagestyle and textstyle work) command (pagecommand and textcommand work) location (Just fixed the texshow description.) I didn't check those (also undocumented): expansion maxwidth unknownreference I wonder who needs alternative b or B: the indicator (index letter) just in front of the first word without any distance is just ugly IMO and decreases readability. (Or in case of spiral binding the holes for the wire need enough space.) And if you need to send your PDF print-ready to your printshop (maybe books-on-demand maker), there's nobody else who will correct for that. Insofar the OP's question is well justified. [NTG-context] several details (maybe bugs)
While typesetting some proceedings, I stumpled upon the following issues: (1) \setupheads seems to do nothing - I must set every option for every head separately. AFAIR this is broken forever, at least it was the same in 2000. (2) \setuphead[chapter][header=none] should switch off the header only on that page where the chapter starts, shouldn't it? (It disables headers completely.) Or how else would I achieve that? (3) \startitemize[n] Numbered itemizations suddenly(?) start with 0 - as this may be suitable for programmers, but it's, ehm, a bit unusual in every other context. Hm, it works in the garden. (4) Is it possible to include footnotes in tables in the normal footnote numbering and placement? (At the moment I use localfootnotes to enable footnotes in tables at all, but that's unsatisfying.) page. How can I avoid that?

[NTG-context] first steps with XeTeX
Since I need to typeset some names with characters outside of ec encoding, I'm just checking out XeTeX. - first threshold: If you have \setupoutput[pdftex] in cont-sys.tex, it doesn't work. ;-) (Complains you should use pdftex binaries.) - second threshold: Adapt your typescripts. Since I use TeX Gyre anyway, that was no problem. (Is there still no complete type-gyr.tex in the distribution? I couldn't find it.) - third threshold (standing there): XeTeX can't read tagged PDFs. For I typeset proceedings, I must include a lot of pages from presentation PDFs. And even if I'd call myself a PDF professional, I didn't find a way to delete all tags from a PDF. I could convert everything to EPS or even render the pages in Photoshop. But I'd prefer to stay with the PDFs. Any ideas? Tomorrow I'll try to use an additional PostScript font - is that even possible? Otherwise I must convert it to OpenType. Greetlings from Lake Constance! I'm too lazy to recompile my binaries all the time; my old Mac is rather slow... Tomorrow I'll try to use an additional PostScript font - is that even possible? Otherwise I must convert it to OpenType. It is, but which OS and what kind of PostScript font are you using? Mac type of PostScript fonts doesn't work (or better: it only works with xdv2pdf, which isn't supported in ConTeXt any more). You can use the windows type Type1 fonts (i.e. just the normal .pfb files). That should work on any system, but on Mac you need to reference it by filename. Font name won't work. Ok, thanks. I guess I could have found out on my own, but was too tired yesterday... I knew that resource fork fonts don't work. But I installed all necessary fonts for pdfTeX anyway. Maybe this can help you ?
I guess not - these 3 parameters are AFAIK part no., title and page
no., and it's called automatically for the ToC entry, so I don't
know how I could replace #2 with author: #2
i.e. alternative in \setuplist is only for defining a different
format for the ToC line, not for changing the *content* of it.
Probably I must utilize that, too, but it doesn't solve my problem on
its own.

aren't my usual bedtime reading.
I just managed to add outputting the author (not only in the ToC)...
Could you please show me how to set also the header to Author: Title?

format generation went through, will try more tomorrow...

And soon (I hope) we'll get math support for the TeXGyre fonts as well. I'd suggest a readable serif as body font, I like e.g. TeXGyre Schola (Century Schoolbook) - it's a bit conservative and ill suited for titling sizes - and perhaps a sans-serif for titlings, e.g. LM Sans or TeXGyre Heros (Helvetica). Different header for the first and another one for the following headers is simple and possible with my module. The option to change the layout for odd and even pages is currently not supported but should be possible but it has to be integrated in the normal interface. My sheets have a pre-printed logo, I use the same for all pages of a letter. On the first page I need address and bank data. On even pages (back side) there's no logo, so I don't need the big top border. Normally I leave out the first even page, e.g. my job application starts with an one-side letter, the following data (CV, references etc.) uses front and back page. The application had the additional difficulty that there's the photo on the CV page, and I wanted the title in white *on* the photo... At least in the online PDF - I used modes to produce both printed version (without logo, because that's pre-printed on my sheets) and email version (with logo) (It would have been *much* easier to use InDesign for that stuff, like for most other designs that I do...) This is also possible with ConTeXt because you could setup layers to place content dependent on left and right pages and the page layout could also change for left and right pages as long as you don't change the text width.
