2017-06-01 Thread Ketan Kothari
Hi Coleen,

It does work on Tunein Radio. As for cricket, it is available on
talksports as well but of course the quality of commentary is not much
to talk about.

With best wishes,

Ketan

Greetings,

I do not remember if sent to the UK Radio Listeners or the PC Audio groups
so am sending to both.

On 17 January 2017, somebody sent a most useful list of links which he
advised works for all BBC radio services. Yes, all the ones I tried did,
but now, all of a sudden, the link for 5LiveSportsExtra when used in FireFox
announces the source file cannot be found, when used in I.E hangs, advising
gathering file information.

I paste back the complete list, looking at the format of links before and
after, I can't find anything wrong I would be grateful if the original
poster could take a look and either come back with a replacement link (or if
necessary list) which works.

Randy,

are you using a second browser?

If so, you'll need the flash plug in for each.
It's also important to ensure that you are installing all flash updates, but I
figure you know that anyway.

USB soundcard help please.

2015-08-30 Thread goshawk on horseback
hello all,
am trying to find a studio quality USB soundcard, with all of the following, or
if not, as much of it as possible please.
24bit, 192KHZ capability,
AES-EBU digital in and out,
optical digital in and out,
coaxial digital in and out,
insert jacks.
I really only need to analog ins and outs, preferably on XLR type sockets, at
least for the inputs.
actual hardware controls on the device for levels and input selection, would
also be preferable.

 Hello Listers,

I am having a strange bluetooth pairing issue. When I turn on my jambox, it
pairs fine with my iPhone 5s. The issue is as follows. When I put the
jambox in pairing mode once again, It won't pair with my windows 7 64 bit

laptop pair with the speaker Can some one please help?

My bose bluetooth headset can have up to 4 devices paired at the same time.

That doesn't really seem strange to me at all. You can't pair one and
the same device simultaneously with two audio output sources such as
the phone and the pc. I don't have lots of bluetooth devices, but those
I do have all act that way. They can be paired with more than one
device, but not at the same time. Only one device can be on and paired
at any given time.

right I understand. Lets say I have just finished listening to music on my
iPhone. I put the speaker in pairing mode once again, so it unpairs from
the phone. Should it not then pair with the laptop?

It doesn't unpair with the phone unless you tell the phone to forget
the device or you turn bluetooth off on the phone. The device can be
paired with more than one bluetooth source, just not engaged with more
than one at a time. So turn off bluetooth on the phone and pair it with
the pc whose bluetooth is on. That should work.

Just wonder if someone could help me with this issue.

I am trying to figure out how to use IE8 as an aggregator for
podcasts, but can't figure out how to effectively subscribe to RSS
feeds. In other words, when I subscribe, I never get any indication
that I've been in anyway successful. I have never received a Podcast
from C-SPAN for example, and others I cannot at present recall.

If IE isn't a practical way to subscribe to or receive Podcasts,
please let me know, and also why this should be.

If anybody could recommend another aggregator besides iTunes, that
would really be appreciated also.

If this is understood by any who might be willing to respond to this
question to be barely on topic, please respond off list.

Thanks much,

Help please with Roxio Easy VHS to DVD converter

2013-02-19 Thread Walter
Hi Folks. This request is on behalf of my sister who is also blind but
knows nothing about computers and her husband, although sighted is totally
tech illiterate. They have some VHS videos they wanted burned to DVD, and
some LPs and audio cassettes which this programme can do also. To cut a
long story short they bought the Roxio easy VHS to DVD converter. It seems
though they don't find it easy. They have asked me if I would install the
programme and do it for them but as I'm totally blind, I don't know if I
would be able to do it, even with the help of my brother-in-law. I've not
used any Roxio products and I have no idea how accessible this programme
will be. I use JAWS 13 on a win7 system. Have any of you ever used the
Roxio Easy VHS to DVD converter and how did you find it to use if you did
and would a blind user be able to use it? Your help and any tips would be
appreciated, especially by my sister. Walter.

What screen reader are you using with Winamp? If you're using JAWS, I
recommend starting with the JAWS help and documentation for use with Winamp.

Re: winamp help please

2012-02-29 Thread dan thompson
 that determines what
file you can actually convert your file to. for mine in particular,
this button says,
MPEG layer 3 192KBPS, 44.1 K Hertz, stereo
that's usually what i convert to, but if you want something
different, you can press this button and you can change the file
type, bitrate and sampling rate of your file. Note that if you don't
have the radium codec installed, you won't be able to convert to
anything higher than 56k, 22.50 k hertz stereo.
I believe the lame encoder will fix this too, and the lame encoder
should be very easy to find if you do a little hunting around.
15. Ok, now that you've determined everything about your file, it's
time to actually do the conversion! So tab past that next checkbox,
i have no idea what the thread priority hack refers to, so just press
ok and you'll be in the preferences again. so now, close the
preferences in the usual way.

16. Ok, now to convert your file, press the letter x which will,
essentially play your file, but you won't hear any sound. Trust me,
you won't. that's just how this plugin works because it moves very quickly.
If you want to know the status of your conversion, press the hotkey
which reads your title bar, insert t for JAWS and control shift t for
Window-eyes, or whatever one you use. You will know your file is
converted when you hear the name of your file, followed by Winamp
stopped. Note that while the file conversion happens, you may notice
that software speech is slower to respond, and sometimes it just
doesn't happen at all, but like I say the conversions happen very quickly.
17. If you followed all the steps above, congratulations, you just
converted your first file with Winamp. Believe me, subsequent
conversions won't be such a long process, especially if you have the
checkbox to remember your file type preferences. But before you go
listen to your newly created file, you have to switch your output
plugin back to the one you ordinarily use. If you attempt to listen
to another file, you'll just be creating more files and you'll have
a lot of stuff on your hard drive you don't want. So, open the
preferences again, tab over to the list of plugins and then choose
the plugin you used before, i would bet it's either the Nullsoft
waveout plugin or the direct sound one. But the idea here is to
change it back to whatever plugin you were using before. so once you
do that, tab to the close button and you can now go back to rockin
with Winamp! I hope this wasn't too long but i did want to write this
process out. This is especially cool because when you want to
convert a file again, all you'll need to do is switch to the
discwriter plugin, play your file and Winamp will convert it. then
all you have to do is switch back to your regular plugin and life's
good. Hope this helped some folks!

Are you looking for generic keystrokes, or screen reader specific keystrokes?

If you are looking for winamp keystrokes, try the link below my name.
If screen reader specific keystrokes, then we need to speak again.

If you have trouble with the link, please let us know I could send
you a direct link to a drop box file but I haven't set this up just yet.

Good luck.

Well, none of that should happen. heheh. I've had trouble configuring
plugins with non-standard interfaces. THe winamp metroska/mkv one seems
particularly suspect and only works about half the time anyway. I'm getting
to the point of resigning to the need to use something like VLC for movies,
but I don't really know if that's a concern for you or not. I haven't tried
the crossfader plugin..maybe I'll give it a go and see for myself..but the
spacebar should definitely activate the configure button under just about
all circumstances.

Hi. It is difficult to say. It seems to crash if I do something it
 doesn't
like, there's no patern. I installed the crossfade plugin and have
 selected
that plug in but each time I go to the configure button and press the
 space
bar, after it thinks about it, it asks me if I want to send an error
 message
or not. I' say no then I get the message the programme is not responding
and do I want to end it, once I say yes to get out of it, I am asked again
if I want to send a error message. Maybe you are right, I need to
 uninstall
and then reinstall. The version Ihave now is the standard but maybe I
should select the full version next time. By the way, when I see the
configuration button, I've tried various ways to activate it without
 success. Just hitting the
Space bar, pressing the enter key, using the key command Alt+C, I've even
Routed PC to JAWS and used the mouse keys, again, still crashed. Walter.

 Hi Walter,

You need to install the SqrSoft Advanced Crossfading Output plugin. You
 can
get it from the Winamp site at
 http://www.winamp.com/plugin/sqrsoft-advanced-crossfading-output/32368

Once installed, you will need to open the Winamp preferences with ctrl+p,
arrow up or down until you get to output, tab to the list
of choices, arrow to the Sqrsoft plugin and press enter. In output, you
 can
also tab to configure where you can adjust various
 crossfading and other parameters.

I understand your frustration of learning a new program, but Winamp is
 the
player I use the most. Some of the controls are a little
unconventional, but I think once you get to know how it works, you will
 like
it for its simplicity and versatility.

 Thanks,
 Barry Chapman

2011-12-15 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi Walter.

To add tracks to your playlist, do the following.

Press ALT+E to open the playlist window. If this closes it because it was
opened, press ALT+E again.

Press CTRL+TAB until you get to the playlist window.

If you want, press CTRL+N to make a new playlist.

To add individual tracks to the list press L to open the file list. Then
add files to the list just like you would to open them in other programs.

If you want to be faster and add folders to the playlist, press SHIFT+L You
can choose to add subfolders below the folder you're adding.

Hope this helps.

GO CATS!

Looks like you've had plenty of help here already, but I'd also like to
point out that all of these are native winamp keystrokes and you can find
all key commands mentioned in winamp documentation. Also, pressing insert-h
within each of the various winamp windows (IE main window, playlist editor,
equaliser) should get you a list of keyboard commands available within that
window.

Also remember that you won't be naming your playlist until you save it.

Hello to all. Can someone explain to me how to create a play list in
Winamp. I'm using JAWS 12 and EXP home. I am making some progress with
this programme, slowly but the help some of you good people have provided
has been of great value.

I've tried to find something that will allow me to create a play list and
the tutorials I've found on the net contain video and the person is using
a
mouse with something different from Classic skins. They also drag and
drop,

Hi Walter,

I think your specific question has been answered, but something you might find
useful as a JAWS user is the following.

When focussed on the playlist editor:

1. Press Insert+w to get a list of shortcut keys.

2. Arrow down the list to hear each of the keys and what they do.

3, Press escape to close the window.

You can also get help about other JAWS and Winamp keystrokes by pressing
Insert+h.

Ok there is a simple fix to this. When in win amp only have the main
window

and playlist window checked. From the main window control tab to the
playlist window. Hit control n if there is stuff there already. This will
clear it. Add all the tracks you want with the l command. When done either
put it on shuffle by hitting the letter s or just randomize the list with
control shift r. When ready just hit enter on the first track.

particularly suspect and only works about half the time anyway. I'm getting
to the point of resigning to the need to use something like VLC for movies,
but I don't really know if that's a concern for you or not. I haven't tried
the crossfader plugin..maybe I'll give it a go and see for myself..but the
spacebar should definitely activate the configure button under just about
all circumstances.

Hi Walter,

The files go into C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins on Windows XP. I'm not sure
about Windows 7.

If you download the plugin as an executable file, I think it will have the
installer built in. If it is a zip file, you just need
to unpack the files and copy them to the plugins folder.

answer? There's a lot of winamp functionality that I simply have no need
for, but this is the only thing I can't seem to be able to figure out that
I'd like to do, now that I started watching a lot more movies on my PC. I
have a lot of AVI files and so on with multiple audio tracks..usually
containing different language dubs, commentaries and so on. Do you know how
to select which individual track to play in winamp? I can get a list of
tracks using alt-three and going over to the tracks tab which shows up in
the AVI info screen, but I can't seem to select anything this way. I'm not
even sure that this method works with the mouse...

I am using Jaws though by the way.

Re: Winamp, more help, please!

2011-12-10 Thread Barry Chapman
Hi Walter,

You need to install the SqrSoft Advanced Crossfading Output plugin. You can
get it from the Winamp site at
http://www.winamp.com/plugin/sqrsoft-advanced-crossfading-output/32368

Once installed, you will need to open the Winamp preferences with ctrl+p, arrow
up or down until you get to output, tab to the list
of choices, arrow to the Sqrsoft plugin and press enter. In output, you can
also tab to configure where you can adjust various
crossfading and other parameters.

I understand your frustration of learning a new program, but Winamp is the
player I use the most. Some of the controls are a little
unconventional, but I think once you get to know how it works, you will like it
for its simplicity and versatility.

Thanks,
Barry Chapman

VLC help Please?

2011-03-02 Thread Victoria Vaughan
Hi, Hopefully someone may be able to help with my inconsistent results in using
VLC to watch DVDS.

I have tried the internet for help, but every time I clicked on a page that I
thought would help, it responded that, that page was no longer available! Very
frustrating.

I am using Jaws 11 on a Windows XP computer.
Sometimes the following steps work, but never never more than once a day.

1. I put the DVD in and shut the door.
When VLC comes up as a choice, I hit Enter.
Pres ALT followed by the right arrow to the Play menu and press Enter.
Arrow down to Title and hit Enter.
Arrow down to the title of choice and hit Enter.
Press the Spacebar to start.

Now, as I said above, this works occasionally on the first try, but never on a
second try the same day, let alone just after seeing the first title and
wanting to see the second title.
If I do these same steps again after the first title, it has never worked!

Can someone tell me how I can get consistent working results?

My deepest thanks! Vicky

Spin It Again Help Please?

2011-02-28 Thread Victoria Vaughan
I would like to use Spin It Again V2.5B to clean up some recordings that I have
made in the past.

I have read the help files and they are quiet on how to pick and load a
preexisting file to be worked upon and cleaned up.

If I want to take something that I had previously input into iTunes, but now
want to take it and refurbish it with Spin It Again, How do I do that?
I also have some CDS that were made of my records, but before I had Spin It
Again, How can I make these tracks load into Spin It Again to be cleaned up?

Many thanks for any help! Vicky

Subject: PROBLEM WITH WINAMP 5.56

Hello both Winamp For The Blind and PC Audio list members,
Just as the tidal says, I have a problem with Winamp 5.56.
I plugged an external card reader in to 1 of my USB ports to edit a many
ST card that came from my LG VX-8360 Celle phone.
The moment I plugged that card reader in, that's when Winamp freezes up on
me.
But however, this does not happen when my LG VX-8360 is plugged in to my
computer.

Is there a way to fix this problem in Winamp?
Thinks in advance!Yours truly, John.

blackbury tour vlingo help please!

2009-08-25 Thread Lauren
Hi,

I had to get a new phone and bought the blackberry Tour. Verizon tells me I can
download Vlingo to make it accessible for a totally blind person. Is this right
and where can I download it from?

I tried to find a link for downloading on the vlingo.com site, but Jaws either
doesn't read it or it's not there. Help!

Should I have chosen another phone; I have 30 days. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Lauren

I have looked into this, listened to it from a Vhorizon dealer who had
downloaded it and it seems to work great. I do not knowh how completely
it does the menues but it does speak well, gets you around and talks
clear and nice. Have your dealer downlod it for you. The vhorizon dealer
was going to download it for me, it costs $20 bucks and seems to do the
job. Read about it on the vlingo site. I might go that way until
something better comes along.

First of all, you don't want to use the smart start. It's not very
accessible.

That having been said, what problems are you having with Nero Burning
ROM?

I'm using version 8 and don't seem to have any problems.

First of all, you don't want to use the smart start. It's not very

That having been said, what problems are you having with Nero Burning ROM?
I'm using version 8 and don't seem to have any problems.

RE: I need some help please!

2009-01-29 Thread Jim
Hi there,

OK. I got the Replay av program and have successfully installed and
registered it. However, I'm so lost that I have no idea what to do, and I'm
trying to look at some of those tutorials.
Here's the goal, and the simpler answers I get, the better.
I need to record two shows. The first is tomorrow, from 12:00-3:00 from
www.kbcs.fm

The second is Friday, from 12:00-2:00 from
www.kboo.fm

I tried adding both of these stations, but it's saying that these stations
are shows.
What do I need to do to add these stations and make sure they're scheduled
to record?
Again, I don't mind detail as long as it doesn't get to where I can't
understand it or it's too technical.

Thanks!

Jim

there are plenty of people here who could help you out if you run into a

I need to know what a good and accessible program would be to record radio

streams. I'm needing to buy this within the next couple of days, as I am
needing to record a radio stream on Friday. I use JAWS 9 and have a PC

what do you recommend that is easy to use?

RE: I need some help please!

2009-01-29 Thread dean martineau
There is doubtless another way, but here is what I would do:

1. Add the two stations. From the shows menu, chose add station,
Then enter the call letters into the dialog. Both stations are in the Media
Guide, so it will be easy to add them. Hit the Add Station link.

2. For each station, go into Properties using the application key, and copy
the Url for the station.

3. From theShows menu, choose Add show manually. Put in the name, which at
least in one case I believe to be Lunch With Folks. Paste in the Url you
copied. Make sure you're set to capture a stream. Scheduling is tricky but
it can be done.

finding recording software, was Re: I need some help please!

2009-01-29 Thread Chris Skarstad
Hi. I've changed
the subject line to better reflect the question. You absolutely
can't go wrong with Replay A/V from Applian.

the software is very speech friendly and the company is very aware of
the fact that a lot of the users of the software are blind. It costs
a bit but is very well worth your investment.

http://www.replayav.com
is where to grab it. You can try it out as a demo that'll record
something for about 5 minutes. If you like it, you can buy it online
and you'll be able to record your show and save it in mp3 or whatever
format you choose. Awesome program!

If you know the direct stream URL, you can use Screamer Radio.

I would use your xp system. The two leading programs for recording streams
are Replay a/v and Total Recorder. Both are good. I have always preferred
Total Recorder. You can download a demo of Replay a/v to try it out,
And there are audio tutorials for JAWS users at

http://www.applian.com/support-blind.php

As for Total Recorder, subscribers to the $9 Sound Computing package have
access to several audio tutorials that I created.

To modify what I wrote above, if you use Vista, you definitely want to use
Replay A/V, and it doesn't work any better with Xp than it does with Vista.
Total Recorder is easier to use with Xp.

Hi Jim. Most people here use Replay AV. It's very keyboard friendly and
there are plenty of people here who could help you out if you run into a
problem. To learn more about what the program can do. go to:

Hope this helps.

Hey Dean,
My XP system isn't working the best and I normally only use it as backup.
Would it work on Vista OK?
I should know this now before I install it.

Hi Marty.

Well if it would be possible I would like to chat with you on the phone
about it.

Of course I would not want you to incur any expense for the call.

I would like to review the controls with you and go over some of the
routing functions if possible.

Contact me off list at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and we can continue if your
willing.

Thanks in advance.

Having received no answer to the m-audio emu0202 question I figured I
would try another one.

Anyone on the list with a Mackie 802 mixer that could give me a few
pointers please?

Even if you have a bigger Mackie mixer that would probably work but if
you have the 802 that would be ideal.

Let me know off list if you can ad [EMAIL PROTECTED] and we can take it
from there.

Thanks in advance.

Can anyone tell me what setting I need to change in Winamp so the program
will stop trying to do a Winamp update.

I am using Winamp 5.5 and when it tries to update, for some strange reason
it locks up my computer.

Any help is appreciated.
