Yup, Forever is 8bit demoparty including Sam Coupe. It is happening
every year (this is 15th year in a row), we have a technicaly great
demo for Sam Coupe this year in the competiton.

If anyone doesn't know yet, there were two demos supposed to be shown.
Due to hardware problems the competition failed. Both demos have been
released anyway:

Wow - pretty amazing to see productivity like that. I especially like
the Platonic solids animation - think I saw it on a C64 demo a while
back. Happy 25th got off to a really good start!

Re: Retro shows and Sam's 25th birthday

2014-02-26 Thread Ian Spencer

Hi Thomas,

there are lots of foreigners in Germany as for many Eastern Europeans,
German is their second language and so they choose to come here. The
Germans generally don't have the over the top reaction to immigration
that you sometimes see in the UK.
Obviously everyone's experience is different but in the 40 years I have
lived here I have never felt that I was treated any differently from a
German, whether personally or when dealing with official departments.

So we love living in Germany and it's given us a good life.

As I only visit the UK about once a year I will unfortunately probably
not be able to visit a Sam meet, however I did visit the Museum of
Computing once and noticed they had little about home computing before
the invention of the micro computer. I sent them a lot of information
including info on the start of the British Amateur Computer Club but
they never even replied. Oh well, that's life.

lectures, suggest that the Sam is an interesting topic and ask if we
can use whatever they have as lecture space for an evening? Maybe I’m
aiming too high but it’s surely an interesting story even for an
outsider: what employees of Sinclair did next, how the British
computer industry ran out of steam? Then if we happen to combine that
with a detailed discussion of the software and so on, so be it?

Depends on how big and where - the NSSS show I did with Malcolm and
George Boyle in Bolton probably only cost around 100 quid tops - and
covered that with stand fee - so we didnt end up out of pocket.

These days, would depend on who wanted to come along - and its
probably better to team up with an existing thing to make it worthwhile.
