SD PolyBushings.com = back from vacation
Was a great week out in the middle of nowhere which this time was South Eastern Oregon through the high desert and on up to 10,000 ft. in the Steen's Mountains and then up to NorthEastern Oregon to the Wallowa Mountains. Took some roads that were on the GPS but must have been old wagon trails. Some were about 2-3 mph in the 4x4 Ramcharger. Every little (very little) town we went through I looked for FWD Mopars but saw nothing interesting. So if you need something for PolyBushings, I'm here. SD ticking head
I thought I might try to help. I was going to let you know what happened to me and maybe it related to your engine but then I read you had rebuilt the head. Here it is anyway. (this happened many years ago) Mine did this ticking after a gas to the floor run. No big deal at first as it wasn't very bad. But it kept getting worse, to the point the oil preasure would drop on the gauge. Took the valve covers off to find the guides had gotton so hard, first they were not sealing causing oil use, and second they were cracking and breaking up. After they starting breaking up, they started to plug up the oil return holes, thus keeping all the oil on the top of the engine and not getting to the bottom, the oil pan would then starve the oil pump. Johnny Spiva PORTLAND, OREGON Selling Polyurethane parts for your FWD Mopar/Shelby http://polybushings.com === here is the problems. when im driving the car hard and shift between first and second, around 6700 rpm, the engine starts a bad ticking noise in the head. and looses power, not much but noticable. after a while of normal driving it slowly goes away. and the second thing is, it has started to blow oil out the dipstick tube, but only when i drive it hard. These are two problems that need fixing and i just need a little direction on what to do. _ Check out Election 2004 for up-to-date election news, plus voter tools and more! http://special.msn.com/msn/election2004.armx ---REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING Questions? SD anti-sway bars
I was asked about sway bars. YES, I do stock anti-sway bars for the FWD Dodge (etc) cars IN STOCKno waiting. These are made by Quickor, they make them for me. I sell them for the same price they sell them for. So why buy from me? I guess the only thing I can say is things will be correct if you get them from me. Correct bars, correct hardware kits. AND If you have questions on which one to buy, I will be glad to help answer your questions. And if you want to use a stock larger Daytona bar on a L body, that works fine with small adjustments. I have been autocrossing a GLH or GLHS since 1989. I love making cars handle. I even autocrossed my K-car turbo wagon and got 3rd place out of 13 cars in street prepared. So if you need assistance, I will be glad to try to help. Dave might be right on this. I have no reason not to beleive him. The whole thing should bolt on BUT I would stick with the more plentiful Spirit parts as donor items. Johnny Spiva PORTLAND, OREGON Selling Polyurethane parts for your FWD Mopar/Shelby http://polybushings.com == Date: Tue, 9 Nov 2004 20:31:51 EST From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: SD K frame Qs In a message dated 11/9/2004 8:09:30 PM Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: johnny sent this to me about the C body K frame. i would assume since he is our resident suspension expert that this part will work. The k-frame with a-arms will bolt right on. If Johnny means that the C body arms, will bolt onto the G/J/P body Kframe, I will GUARANTEE that is not the case. I spent over an hour hammering them into place, they WILL NOT FIT. The REAR part of the hinge is a DIFFERENT diameter (with NO aftermarket bushing), AND, the angle is slightly different as well, and the distance from the front pivot hole to the rear is different between the two. I have about 40 pictures and about 10 witnesses who can back this up (including people like Mike Contraption Marra, Brian Slowe, and many other DV-SDAC members). Trust me, unless you want to waste MANY hours worth of time like I did, here's the rules: C body (Dynasty, New Yorker) arms (the ones with the smaller hole near the balljoint, as mentioned in my last post) ONLY work with C body Krame. G/J/P (and Spirit) arms (the ones with the larger hole near the balljoint, as mentioned in my last post) only work with these K-frames. The two arms ARE different, if you lay a C body cast arm over a G(etc) body cast arm, you will SEE they are different. TRUST me :-) - -Dave Lucidi ---REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING Questions? SD Re: Shelby Z, 1987 4-Sale
Many people do not think a car is worth X amount. BUT many cars I see sell for $1500 from the east side are just rust. Many of the cars people fix up from there would never even be considered as a fixer let alone sell for $1500 out here in the rust free zone. I am amazed with the work many put into a floor replacement and patch panels. I heard one guy say his car was not rusty, then sent photos. It was rusty, so I asked why lie then send a photo showing all the rust. He said it wasn't rusty if it wasn't rusted through. That guy was not right! A rust free south or west car is so much less work to fix up. So his might be worth $3000 or more if you consider condition. SD Anti-Sway Bars To Sell
As many of you know Quickor has locked their doors and are out of business. They made bars for the FWD Mopars. While I was there, I designed some endlink style bars. SD Bad news - Good News! from PolyBushings
I have sold out of 1984-89 passenger side engine mounts. And i am sure my venders are low or out as well. Since I left Quickor (last June) and started PolyBushings.com I have sold 100 of these mounts. I have been fighting a coating issue with these. They have never been up to what I want in quality. I think I finally solved all of the problems. In the last couple weeks I have made 100 more. These have finally been powder coated on the outside and are now being poured with polyurethane. So far they look wonderful. If you have wanted one, they should be ready soon. SD Energy Suspension offers to buy PolyBushings.com
(Energy Suspension is the leader in Polyurethane bushings, Prothane is second) I thought it was interesting a few weeks ago when a NW Rep from Prothane came into where my day job is and KNEW who I was and what I was doing in my home business (PolyBusings.com). Then about a week later the national rep for Energy Suspension stopped by and he also knew what I was doing and even knew my name. Then a couple days ago I had a call from the Energy Suspension rep saying he wanted to stop by some evening and talk with me. I set up an appointment for yesterday evening. When I met him yesterday for dinner, there was another guy with him. Ends up it was the company controller. We had small talk about Oregon rainy weather and bushings. Then they wanted to talk about my web site. Ends up they want the web site name for themselves and want it enough to pay for it. Thats why the company controller was there, to write me out a check if I said yes. They offered me a lot of money. The deal is, I also can't compete for 5 years. So no more poly bushings business under any name. And they said they were not sure they would still make the items I am making for the FWD Mopars. AND I just sent in my money to be an official TD vender. So I have to tell you to think about what today is! Johnny Spiva http://www.polybushings.com ---REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING Questions? Doesn't Cindy at FWD Performance sell road race/autocross springs for the L Body? Maybe those are what you are looking for. Coilovers do not change camber so no need to worry about that. SD Shelby Plant meeting News -correction!
I was under the impression that the Feb 2005 event was the SAAC 31 event, but that is not true. It is a west coast annual event only, not the main event of the year. Included below is a letter I received from a SDML member. Johnny Spiva PORTLAND, OREGON -- Selling Polyurethane parts for your FWD Mopar/Shelby: http://polybushings.com === Johnny Your post to the SDML is kind of misleading. The February 2006 event you posted about is not the annual SAAC convention. It is a western area get together that occurs every February in Las Vegas. Just like previous years its called SAAC Does Vegas xx. Everyone has always been invited, in fact I've attended it twice. Here's a link to this past February's event: https://ss.shelbyamerican.com/saac04/track.asp Here's a link to the February 2000 event: http://www.cobracountry.com/articles-cobra/SAAC-Vegas4-2000/home.html These winter SAAC events have been taking place pretty much since the 1998 Opening of the LVMS. Don't mean to be a downer but I feel people are being mislead by your post that the annual SAAC convention is being held in Vegas, which it is not, and that the Dodge cars are welcome to participate, which they are not. Ford powered cars are a requirement for SAAC conventions. Steve ---REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING Questions? Visit http://www.sdml.org/ To be removed, visit http://www.sdml.org/pages/leave.html

SD track arm bushings
I am in the process of developing polyurethane track arm bushings for the 1984-1994 FWD Dodge cars. These would fit all body's except van, Rampage and L body. They would fit cars like Daytona, Shadow, k-car's,...the cars that have the coil springs in the rear. The track arm is the arm that locates the rear axle in place. If you look under the rear of your car you will see it. Options right now are buying a complete stock style new arm, from Moog, Spicer, Mopar. Or an adjustable one that is made to replace the stock style. These adjustable ones usually have rod ends on the outer ends. They are nice but not for everyone. The bushing kit I am working on would include 4 bushing halves and 2 inner sleeves. You would simply remove your track arm, remove the rubber bushings and install the poly ones. Then bolt it back up into the car. One thing you could do while it is out of the car is to box in the track arm for greater strength. I would like to know how many people are interested in these, so I know about how many to make. Price is NOT known yet, but I expect the kit to run about $25-$40. SD poly tranny mounts - revised
I have sold out of the tranny mount (drivers side) that I have been selling that fit the 80's cars. SO if a vender that sells my items is out, it is not their fault. The mount is being revised, and being tested. I have decided to make them solid, instead of the way the factory and after market company's have been making them. I have also seen a couple of my tranny mounts sag, so I want to improve on what I have been making. I just got 8 test samples , I'll let you know how it goes as I hope to install one this weekend. SD Group Buy On Rear Anti-Swaybar
I have decided to do a group buy thing on 1 rear sway bars for the K based cars. (Daytona, Shadow, LeBaron, Reliant, Dynasty, TC, etc) It started with a TC group and I decided to expand it to everyone. If you have been wanting one here is a chance to get one. If you have been wanting to change the whole axle for the solid style sway bar axle, here is your chance to just add a bar and not have to go through the trouble of changing axles. My swaybar prices have held the same since I started PolyBushings.com, but the steel prices have gone way up. I need to raise my prices on bars by the 1st of the year if steel does not go back down. If I make a large number of bars at one time, my manufacturing costs are less...less set up, less powder coating cost per bar, etc. so I can pass the savings on to you. Regular price is $169 for a 1 inch spring steel sway bar kit with all the attaching hardware and polyurethane bushings. These attach way different than the other cheap brand. See my bar here: http://www.polybushings.com/pages/swaybarkrr.html Group Special Price is $145plus shipping. Bars will be powder coated satin black. To get in on this great buy I need to have your order before November 23rd. 1st- I need a direct email from you that you are going to buy one of the bars. 2nd- You need to mail me a postal money order (or check...see below) for $145 3rd- when the bars are finished and shipped, you will be billed for the shipping cost, then you will send me another money order or check for the shipping amount at that time. $ Postal money order from the post office is preferred, I will accept checks written from these banks: Bank of America US Bank Wells Fargo If you have any questions, feel free to ask. SD 1990-95 Tranny Mounts
I have a new process that I can take advantage of, to take new stock style rubber tranny mounts and fill the gap with real mount style polyurethane, not the windsheild stuff. Usually you need to heat/bake the items, this would not be good for the rubber part. As you may know, in the past I have made the early tranny mounts from scratchlazer cutting the steel, making molds for the two pieces of polyurethane, etc. I am not doing this for the late mount. BUT, I am willing to do this poly/rubber mount. IF you are interested in this please let me know. As in, yes I would buy this if you make it. The price is very reasonable. $43 each. SD Warning on cast -arm poly bushings
I sold (now with a warning) the Moog and Spicer brand front control arm bushings for the 1991-95 FWD mopars.(not made by them, just sold by them. they are made by the same company...remco) I even installed them on my 94 k-frame in my 86 turbo wagon 2 years ago. They DID NOT FIT right. Thought it might just be the 94 a-arms I bought. SO, I bought a 91 and a 92 a-arm to see if these bushings fit these. THEY DO NOT fit. The small one fits fine but the larger one is sloppy in the control arm and will wear out fast, as they did in my wagon. PLEASE give me feedback on your install of these, if you have. MAYBE you didn't even notice and just put them in. I (of course) watched how they fit with a critical eye. I am thinking of making these but then, they might not sell because of the Just get them from Moog. If you plan on installing these in your cast arms, watch it close!! SD Rampage or CSX ?? FS
I wrote a couple months ago that I bought a Rampage with a 1988 CSX-T engine in it. (Including the Shelby valve cover) It is a automatic car/truck. It did not come with a key and I did not hear it run before I bought it. Well today I put the car on the trailer again and took it to the locksmith to get a key made. I put a battery in it and turned the keystarted right up and runs great...and no smoke. Sweet! I also bought a 1989 CSX-VNT yesterday. So I am thinking about selling the Rampage. I was going to use it for a run-around truck and still might if no one wants to buy it. But room here at my place is getting to crowded. Rampage needs the back window replaced, I have one for it. Tailgate is dented, I have a replacment. If interested please call me or write to me. Offer me something that makes it want to go to your place. I drilled a hole in where the tip of the axle would end up, but in the side of the half shaft. I installed a grease fitting. I pumped grease into it, causing preasure to help push out the axle. BUT also put it in a vise and used a big hammer to get it out. After saying this, and you get it out, look close at the splines. they rust and may be bad, maybe not. Johnny Spiva PORTLAND, OREGON -- Selling Polyurethane parts for your FWD Mopar/Shelby: http://polybushings.com From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: SD trouble separating half shaft from CV axle I am replacing the CV axle on my 85 Dodge 600 Turbo. I can not seem to get the CV axle separated from the half shaft. From looking at my repair man it looks like it should slip out. I have tried a pry bar my hammer, vise ect. but no luck. I am afraid that I will damage the half shaft if I am not careful and I am not to sure that half shafts are readily available. Any thoughts, tricks? heat? air hammer? SD PolyBushings is Moving!
PolyBushings.com is moving from Portland Oregon to Coos Bay Oregon. It is about a 4 hour drive south and west from Portland. About 235 miles. Our new place will be out in the country, about 9 miles east from the Coos Bay town. 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The closest neighbor can not be seen from our place. I will be able to have a larger shop, about twice the size I have now. What does this mean for my customers in the months ahead? It will mean I will have the space and time to develop new items. PolyBushings will be my full time job. More suspension products will become available. New items, new performance items. A larger selection! PayPal will finally be available to buy direct from PolyBushings.com BUT please be patient..here is why: I am buying 5.6 acres, with no shop or house on it. I need to excavate a driveway first and need to have the rain stop to be able to do that. This time of year in Oregon, that is a waiting game. I still need to get the shop built and buy the house. And I can't start this until we close on the house we just sold. We move from Portland on January 18th into a camper on the land. We will then start to get the place ready to live on. It will not be easy, it will be an adventure for sure. HERE IS MY NEW ADDRESS (after Jan 18th): PolyBushings.com Johnny Spiva PO Box 4283 Coos Bay, Oregon 97420 My phone number will be my cell number...(503) 869-6156 ...at least until we get the new land line in a few weeks. The cell phone does not work at the land because of no cell reception. But I will get the messages daily and call you back. Some how I will get to my emails. But I will not have a computer set up for a few weeks. There is no electric or phone service yet on the land. I am going to set up a temporary container/shop untill I can build my new shop. SD crapping out?
What about the coil crapping out at higher boost. What coil are you running? htmldivJohnny Spiva BRPO Box 4283BRCoos Bay Oregon 97420BR-- BRSelling Polyurethane parts BRfor your FWD Mopar/Shelby: BRhttp://polybushings.com BR/div/html == I have stuttering at 18 psi (should go to 21). Timing is right, fuel should not be a problem, except I was running 94 unleaded. I do have race fuel up to 111 octane. What I'm thinking I will do is try the race fuel. I also may try changing the gap on my plugs (RN9YC) Any other tips? For those who helped with my previous problem it was damaged/incorrect map sensor wiring, and possibly a weak coil. SD CSX #471 For Sale
This car is for sale by a friend of mine in Southern California. If you want a nice, low milage, rust free car, here it is. Call him please or email him, his info is at the bottom of the info. Johnny . Movie/slides of car is here. http://homepage.mac.com/carfri/iMovieTheater3.html He has photos also. I spotted this car in a pick a part yard in Sun Valley (LA) about 6 years ago. It ended up there (with a salvage title) because because the original owner elected to donate it to charity and take the tax benefit rather than selling it. I have been in touch with him on several occasions and he is in the LA area and he says that he took the original dash plaque off the car. He promised it to me and then moved a couple of times and misplaced it. He put in new clutch while he still had the car. I paid 500 bucks plus tax for it and have put in over another $3K to bring it ROARING back to life. Things I have done to the car (partial list): New gas tank New hi perf cat New brakes all around New timing belt New Eagle GA tires (less than 2000 miles) New water pump New Headliner New plugs wires Radiator renewed New belts Car has factory air (not working) Original driver's door replaced (have original bottom molding piece and extra side moldings - both doors) Everything else is factory stock Mileage is 81K orig. NO RUST Los Angeles car Tranny shifts perfectly with no crunches or grinds Have extra NOS SHELBY windshield decal All instruments and lights work perfectly as does the original radio Always runs at good running temp and NEVER overheats Needs paint and has a few very minor dings Front seats have the usual splits in the groove Rear seats almost near perfect as are the door panels Original tint on rear windows has bubbles Small rock chip on windshield All locks work as new with original keys Carpeting is good - no stains or rips THIS CSX RUNS POWERFULLY STRONG... THE WAY A GOOD TURBO II SHOULD... SD Daytona Sway Bar Help
I will be making them again, but it will take a few weeks. I just made a bunch for the cast arm cars. Those are next. Isn't there a pick-pull yard near you? htmldivJohnny Spiva BRPO Box 4283BRCoos Bay Oregon 97420BR-- BRSelling Polyurethane parts BRfor your FWD Mopar/Shelby: BRhttp://polybushings.com BR === Date: Mon, 02 Jul 2007 20:46:08 -0400 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: SD Daytona Sway Bar Help Hi all, As some of you may remember, I discovered that my factory sway bar on my 1990 Daytona Shelby (early style stamped control arms and 1.25 diameter) is shot. I ordered a replacement through FWD (Spiva's bar) awhile back. I just received an email from Johnny today saying that he didn't have any of those already made in stock, sorry. I take that to mean that he doesn't plan on having any either, at least for a very long time. The car is off the road, and I ruined the bushings on the old sway bar getting them off. It's been off the road long enough that I really need to get it back together. The sway bar is the only thing left. I do not want to replace it with another worn bar. I guess end links would be nice, but I would also be happy with a stock style one. Chrysler, of course, doesn't have any more sway bars. Does someone have another source for these bars? I can't remember the old emails, but is there a bar out there that I can purchase new and cut the ends off to make it fit the Daytona? Slant 6 Dan suggested some repair options for the old bar that I might resort to if I must, but I've done everything else on the whole suspension rebuild right, and I really want to do this right as well. So, to sum up...Help! I need to find a new bar. :-) Thanks! _ http://newlivehotmail.com ---REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING Questions? SD re: Panhard bar
Yes, the factory panhard bar flexes and bends. Boxing it in keeps it strong and straight. Johnny Spiva PO Box 4283 Coos Bay Oregon 97420 -- Selling Polyurethane parts for your FWD Mopar/Shelby: http://polybushings.com http://polybushings.com/pages/1025install.html I'm curious...if I have a rear sway bar on the back (in this case it would be a G-body), would there be any benefit of doing this modification to the panhard bar as well?
