Updated running a discussion list with TB
Hello users, Ok, I've updated the How-To on running a discussion list with TB to include all the great new capabilities since the last release. HTML to text
Hello , There is no way to compose formatted messages in TheBat! and this is what I like best about the program as I consider HTML formatting to be a complete nuisance. However when I receive a formatted e-mail, it is displayed in all its splendour. Is there a way to force TheBat! to display only plain text and ignore all the unnecessary HTML ornaments? Too many windows
Hello , I am a Eudora user trying to look for a better alternative. TheBat! is small and powerful. It looks like a nice e-mail program and I'm giving it a try. PJFS I want to read an entire thread while in message mode, as it is PJFS now I have to read your message (this one I am replying to) close PJFS it than use either the arrow key,or high lite the next message in PJFS thread and hit *enter* . Hmmm. I assume that you are aware that in the view folder or message mode as you put it, there's a message list for that window which is not on by default. View - Message List. This message list operates independently of the main TB!'s list and is what is being used by the CTRL+up and down keys. I find it tedious that the view folders message list doesn't initially default to reflect the main windows message list for that folder. The user may alter this if he wishes to but the *initial* list view should be the same as the main windows is for that folder. This is especially pertinent for those who use the view folder window without it's message list enabled. PJFS Being able to * read the next message in thread while in a message PJFS window could / should * be a perfect addition to the message window PJFS option. Hello All, Yesterday I wrote the following and only one of you replied. FvV I just noticed that ctrl up and ctrl down moves to the previous or FvV next message based upon the date and time the message was received. FvV Isn't this strange? I never did find an MDI interface for e-mail management to be good but only restrictive and I disliked Eudora and Pegasus Mail for this. It's interesting that when you're accustomed to something how another style can be cumbersome. TB! is a different universe and adapts different styles and approaches from the other mainstream apps. Send function in IE 5.0
Hello TBUDL, I'm brand new to the Bat!, I've read the FAQ and archives and I can't seem to come up with an answer to an odd behavior from IE 5.0 when trying to "Send" - "Page by e-mail" or "Link by e-mail". With Eudora, you could change the .ini file; is there a similar file/method for TB? I have a lot of programs that open automatically, including TB, and I like to keep the screen unlittered. Just affix CSR the parameter "/nologo" (no parenthesis) to the end of the executable CSR "thebat.exe" in your icon's properties on your desktop. That's how CSR mine starts up. Thanks for the tip, Craig! I learned something else, too. You have to make this change to *all* of The Bat's shortcuts, at least to the ones you routinely use. I was going by the shortcut I had placed in my "Quick Launch" file, and I hadn't yet made the change to that particular start-up file. Create a new filter rule, specify the source and destination folders, and then enter the filter string for one of the persons under 'filtering strings'. Now, enter the other search strings in the 'Alternatives' section of the filter rule setup dialog, hitting the 'Add Set' button and entering a string for each of the other persons mail to be filtered. TB! will then filter any mail that matches any one of the strings that you've entered. This is different from adding all the strings in the first window of the filter rule dialog, under 'filtering strings', using the 'Add' button. If you add all the strings there, you're asking TB! to filter messages only if *all* the strings are matched in *each* message to be filtered. -- -=A.C. Hello Windisch and everyone else... WG I think it is possible, Account/Filters/Incoming filter/Alternatives. (I've WG never tried this so far, but I think that's what you need.) As an alternative to Alternatives (*g*) you can use the pipe ( | ) character as "OR". I.E. to filter for "john" or "jan", you can use one filter rule for: john|jan -- Gold Gauramimailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] I believe in dragons, honest politicians, and other fantasy creatures. //Flying high with The Bat! v1.46 Beta/3 //Over the land of Win98 v4.10 build 1998 //Fueled by an AMD K6-2 400mhz, 128mb RAM, and fusion. -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org

Backing up in order to reformat
Hello Group, I'm planning to reformat my hard drive and was wondering how I should go about backing up the all the file folder structure and emails. I currently manage 3 POP email accounts using TheBat!. I hope there's a smarter way than doing it the way I did it the last time, which was to recreate all the accounts and file structures and import the backuped emails that I exported prior to reformatting. -- Best regards, Joemailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _NetZero Free Internet Access and Email__ http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org
