What about some old screencasts that seems that are no longer

This screencast was deprecated in v5. We made others, see the developing

Re: [Tinyerp-users] Screencast New Open ERP Ergonomy Proposition

2009-06-03 Thread forum-user
Hello Luc,

 - add a new filter (ok)
 - modify a filter
 - delete a filter
 - define a filter as a public of private one
 - give security on filters (can define which groups have access to the filter)

Yes, delete a filter is managed. Modify is not (yet). We have a link, like for
shortcuts 'Manage Filters', that opens the list of filters for edition.

Filters are by default private, but it's simply window actions, where you can
put others users or groups for make it public. There is a link Manage Filters
to do this. That's great because it's compatible with old modules that have
their window actions already defined.

Is it possible to create complexe filters like (condition1 AND condition2)
 OR condition3 ?

They are no parenthesis system, so we may be limited in some way.
Your example is equivalent to: c3 or c2 and c1. You can also create filters for
c2 and c1 = f1. Then create a new filter: f1 or c3.
We can do better but it's enough for now on.

What about secrurity = if I don't have access to some fields, I should not
be able to see and select it into the list of fields for my filters.

It depends. If you put groups on fields of the object, this is managed, if you
put on the view, of course, this will have no impact. But that seems logic for
me.

It could be greate for users to have filters like select and filter = you
just select a word or a part of a word, press a filter by selection button
and the filter is done !

I don't understand what you mean here ?

When we updated these existng databases I see some entries like this:
#91;2009-06-03 14#58;58#58;28,794#93; DEBUG#58;orm#58;column relate is in
the table ir_model_fields but not in the corresponding object ir.model.fields

is in the table wkf_transition but not in the corresponding object
workflow.transition
#91;2009-06-03 14#58;58#58;28,911#93; DEBUG#58;orm#58;column
version_pattern is in the table ir_module_module_dependency but not in the
corresponding object ir.module.module.dependency

So something is not aligned between the tables and the orm. There must have
been some incompatible change made that openerp-server could not update
successfully.

I'm going to dump and remove all these existing tables and then retest.

Gerry

2009-06-03 Thread forum-user
Ok, I removed all the preexisting databases for the openerp user from our test
machine and created 3 new databases in the client. And now when we start the
server and client we can connect to different databases without error. So
there was some structure problem with the preexisting tables. I didn't think
the warnings about columns existing in the tables but not in the orm was
critical during --update. Obviously something was not aligned right. The
tables were created about 6 months ago so it was probably with a beta version
of v5. So this issue now appears resolved.

Hi Fabien...

I prefered to buy it directly on your site www.openerp.com because Amazon
delivery times are incredibly long for standar international shipping 18-32
days. I should wait until... July to read it.
If you select Priority International Courier (averages 2-4 days), shipping cost
duplicate the cost of book, so I prefered to buy it directly to you.

And I have got some doubts... I received the Purchase Order and Ogone credit
card payment aceptation, but I can't see anywhere the expected average days and
shipping cost is not included on the order or payment form.

Another little problem (I think it should be very easy to repair) is on
delivery address, where State/Province/Region is shown as 20. That is the state
code instead of name (Gipuzkoa or Guipuzcoa).

Thank you very much!!!

The shipping costs are included in the price. We sell it at 29.9 and the
public price is 27.9 EUR, as far as I remember. We don't deliver
ourselves, we use the services of a distributor. They pack in 3 open

few days to receive it. (may be 3 ?)

The access bug was due to old beta v5 databases. Once new databases were
created then everything works fine. So no more access problem.

Fabien, Stephane,
Can you finish getting these patches merged? I see a number of people in the

will not work without these patches. I spent a good deal of time testing these

Re: [Tinyerp-users] New Open ERP Book : Retail and Industrial Management

2009-06-03 Thread forum-user
Hi All,

Just working my way through the new book and it's a great help. Thanks to
Fabien and Geoff for making it even easier to explore the product.

Not to take anything away from the PDF media but I like books. I like being
able to scribble notes in the margins, sit outside with it during my lunch
break and generally just enjoy the accessability of it. I know that proabably
makes me a dinosaur but when learning something new, a book wins for me
everytime over on-screen information.

I was wondering are there plans to expand the topics covered in the new books
to include the following

* EDI
* Webshop
* Point of sale
* Asset Managment

I'm sure there are a lot of areas the community would like to see covered in
more detial but the first three are topics which seem to get regular requests
for assisatnce on the forums, while asset managment is a topic I'd personally
like to see covered as I've been looking for an intergrated solution for a long
time before Openerp showed up.

Apologies for being a pushy customer :-)

Regards

Stephen
