I think that they are saying the same thing. The hood hinges need to
match the year model of the hood .Either year hinge set will bolt to
either year body.
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List
the bolt spread dimension is different between 68 and 69 on the flange that
mounts to the hood. if you have 68 hood, you need 68 hinges.

You will find specific info in an assembly manual. My 72 shows both
bolts are front to rear install. torqued to 70-90 ft/lb.
Also ball joints show upper 40-60

I've heard/read that the Mexican blocks are actually beefier than the late
70's-mid 80's blocks? CHP did a buildup with a Goodwrench 350 and they got
well over 400hp out

The regular Goodwrench 350 is made in Mexico, as are the Vortec
heads. No promises on the B 350, but mine doesn't say Hencho En
Mexico on it that I've found.

That could be true. I never got
wrong info on mex blocks All mex blocks are of a 4bolt nature due the fact that they are weeker castings than domestic blocks -- they are cast with much less nickel tin therefore making them prone to HIGH wear(have seen cyl. ridges at 50k that 010/020blocks wont have at 150k)
