I think you can use any contemporary 3.25 inch floppy (like 2HD) for
an older system. I have heard that if you format it in 400k or 800k
and then try to use it as a 1.4MB, the newer drive may have a hard
time wiping off the older file system.

I picked up a Classic today from the place, which is pretty much down
the street from me. The guy said that they have Mac Classics left, so

If you don't want to buy a new tool and have a set of allen wrenches,
you can use one that will fit the torx socket. It takes quite a bit
more work, but I was able to do it by turning, then lifting the small
wrench over and over with my fingerstook about 10 min.

I installed a larger hard drive in my SE/30 and made a few partitions
to be able to boot different OS versions, but I'm having difficulting
specifying which volume to boot from. I used the startup disk control
panel to select the partition I wanted to boot, and then when I open
the control panel
For the older operating systems (pre 7.6?) one needed a utility
usually included with the disk formatting software, in order to set
which partition to boot from.
I'm playing around with a couple different OS's: 7.0.1, 8.1, and A/UX.
I can use the startup disk control panel to switch between
I formatted another drive and used used System Picker to change
between system folders from different partitions and it worked. I'm
not exactly sure what was fixed in the process, since I used the same
formatting tool with the other drive I formatted.

I have a Mac Plus that I bought new that I am trying to get

The flaky joints you particularly need to check are the ones associated with

Well, I got one of 'em working last night; managed to boot it off
install floppies. It ended up dropping it from System 7.5 down to
7.0, but it boots now.
This is what happened when I installed a Lapis ProColor card in my
SE/30. I couldn't boot with 7.5.5 with the card
