According to the California State Constitution and federal law, late filing renders the office vacant and requires immediate removal of the elected official. Greg Willis filed the suit after years of research, during which he uncovered the fact that California Governor Gray Davis, Attorney General Bill Lockyer and 38 individuals in four California counties had filed their oaths too late. The legal consequences of late filing are drastic. Once the office-holder is removed, all actions taken in an official capacity are considered null and void, any wages or other payments received by the official are to be paid back in full and the official may be subject to a prison term. Willis' complaint is simple: "Why is it that public officials force us to comply with the law, but they see themselves as above the law?" In an exclusive WorldNetDaily interview, Willis expressed frustration with a government that employs such a brazen legal double standard. The lawsuit is a means of fighting back in a system that he believes has exceeded its boundaries. "What would happen if you didn't pay your car registration in time?" asks Willis. "You can't drive that car!" "In my opinion, this is the most important lawsuit ever filed in the history of the great state of California, because we want to settle once and for all whether or not these public officials are required to comply with the same laws as the rest of us," he continued. "We have deadlines or we don't have a civilization. We have to have limits." Willis' attorney, Jeff Greenwald, agrees, saying that this case is about the rule of law. "It may sound technical, it may sound trivial, but it's not," he told WorldNetDaily. "[The defendants] are not going to sit down and take this lightly." While Greenwald admits that he does not know what the defendants will do in response to the case, he does have his theories. Retroactive legislation may be attempted to excuse late or absent oaths of office. The legislation may take the form of an extended time period for compliance, or it may simply require all future elected officials to file their oaths with the secretary of state in the time prescribed by law -- 30 days from the issuance of a certificate of election. Another escape route for delinquent officials could be the declaration by the federal court that statutes relating to the filing of an oath of office within 30 days are directional rather than jurisdictional -- meaning that the statutes are merely a recommendation instead of a mandate. That tactic has been used frequently by the courts in order to get government entities out of sticky legal situations. However, such a declaration may be more difficult to come by in this case, as directional statutes have been declared so only if they do not contain consequences for lack of action. The failure to file an oath of office in a timely manner clearly contains ramifications, the first of which is removal from office. "They're going to be terrified, because the implications of this are so complex and far-reaching," said Greenwald, who has requested a jury trial. Defendants in the case may see the loss of their jobs and the reversal of their professional actions, but the real fear is loss of official immunity. Government officials are immune to lawsuits concerning actions in their official capacities. Should Willis' lawsuit succeed, however, the court would deem the 38 individuals named as defendants as never having held office, and, as such, they would not then be under the cover of immunity. The lawsuit will be followed by federal quo warranto actions against every defendant now working for the state of California or Alameda or Contra Costa counties. A quo warranto is a legal demand to produce proof of credentials -- in this case, to provide a certified copy of a timely-filed oath of office. Quo warranto actions are "unique in American jurisprudence, as the plaintiff doesn't have to prove anything," said Greg Nichols, a teacher who has traveled up and down the state of California informing civil rights groups about the oath of office. "All [the defendant] would have to do is go down to the secretary of state's office, get a certified copy of the oath and show it off in the court and be done with it," he said. If this is true all they did was stall the problems until another time in the future. Personally, the electronic time clock at the nursing home where I work is all screwed up. The atm machines in northwest Indiana have been acting strange for the last four months, sometimes allowing withdrawals and other times giving error messages such as wrong pin number, no such account, or insufficient funds when the money is there. Often the atm will turn you down on credit card withdrawals (which could be the fault of Cirrus or the credit card companies computers). Overall, the two percent to seven percent of IT budgets dedicated to Y2K repairs by corporations and government agencies was a responsible and rational response. The cost shouldered by large organizations was much larger, as percentage of revenue, than what a household should have spent, because each company shouldered a small part of the expense of removing risk from their customers' lives. Now that the danger has passed, the survivalist who did over-spend has to live with the mistake while the rest of us will benefit from having calculated correctly. One of the major reasons that the U.N. has become the haunt of
organisations and individuals seeking to bring about a one-world
antichristian political and religious consciousness is that it has a
ready-made global network which can be easily infiltrated and used by
clandestine forces. Furthermore, it easily fulfils the preparatory plans of
those secretly controlling the world government which will lead to the
so-called Golden Age on earth envisaged within the New Spirituality and New
World Order people. The primary work of the United Nations since the time of
its inception has been to soften people up to the idea of a world government
which will have complete jurisdiction over the sovereignty of national
governments. That is why the U.N. has suddenly come into such prominence as
the "policeman of the planet" during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
This does not mean that the present U.N. and its Security Council, as it
is presently constituted, will necessarily be the actual World Government
itself -- although it is certainly the primary harbinger. There have been a
great many contributory factors in this softening-up process, of which the
foremost has been the careful erosion of the concept of national sovereignty
across the world. To this end, former 'Iron Curtain' countries have been
systematically 'democratised' (orchestrated by the shadow world government
powers) so that long-standing, covert, nationalist bitterness could once
again rise to the surface, leading eventually to calls for a world
government. To imagine that the dismantling of the Iron Curtain has been the
result of a series of independent, spontaneous, popular people's revolutions
is the height of naïvety. The present writer has seen numerous intelligence
sources which show that the political structures of the Soviet Union and its
satellites (e.g., East Germany, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Czekoslovakia,
etc.) have been systematically dismantled by the same secret powers which
originally set them in motion. Mikhail Gorbachev, former President of the
U.S.S.R. and now President of the International Green Cross/Crescent, was
groomed for his role in this by predecessor Yuri Andropov, and is a major
protégé of the secret world government which is even now in force.

Barbara Rother present a live channel from the Group to a gathering of
Lightworkers at the United Nations in Vienna.
What follows is a very powerful channel that offers suggestions for all of
humanity on living in the higher vibrations of our new Planet.
We arrived in Vienna at 9 am after 13 hours of flight time from San Diego.
Vienna is a beautiful city with rich heritage. This was the first time that
Barbara and I had been to Europe and we were quite excited about this trip.
Our Host, Lourdes Resperger, met us at the airport with a bouquet of flowers
that set the tone for what was to come. She is the president of the Vienna
International City Esoteric Society that hosted this event. Our Hotel was
very near a canal off the Blue Danube River. We decided to check into our
hotel and get some rest before attending the channel at the United Nations
at 4 pm. I was not at all nervous about the event and was really looking
forward to it. I did not know what to expect but it didn't bother me.
Eva Reinerman from Brussels and her mother Helen met us at our hotel, later
that afternoon. Together we traveled to something called the Vienna
International Center, on the "underground". This was kind of strange for me
because when I looked around I became acutely aware that I was the only one
on the subway carrying a sword. No problem, I have found myself in stranger
situations before. Explaining the sword to many customs officials has given
me wonderful stories to tell at the seminars. We arrived at the entrance to
the Vienna International Center. We had to present our ID and go through
security because we were entering a country within a country. Everyone lined
up and they checked our passports and gave us badges. Then the moment of
truth as the security guard asked all of us to place our belongings on the
x-ray machine. I really didn't want him to go into panic

In the book "The Aquarian Conspiracy", by Marilyn Ferguson, a survey of New Agers showed that the leading influence on their spiritual "awakening" was Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. The occultist and well-known "channeller", Dr. Robert Muller, who was an Assistant Secretary General at the United Nations until recently, wrote in one of his books: "Teilhard [de Chardin] had always viewed the United Nations as the progressive institutional embodiment of his philosophy" (Robert Muller, ed., The Desire to be Human: A Global Reconnaissance of Human Perspectives in an Age of Transformation, Miranana, 1983, p.304). As the darling of the "New Spirituality", Teilhard de Chardin rigorously applied his monist, evolutionary philosophy to the world political situation, leading him to advocate a vision of some kind of one-world government. In his book "The Future of Man" (Harper Row, 1955, p.182), he wrote: "Although the form is not yet discernible, mankind tomorrow will awaken to a 'pan-organized' world". The United Nations has long been one of the foremost world harbingers for the "New Spirituality" and the gathering "New World Order" based on ancient occult and freemasonic principles. Seven years after the birth of the U.N., a book was published by the theosophist and founder of the Lucis Trust, Alice Bailey, claiming that "Evidence of the growth of the human intellect along the needed receptive lines [for the preparation of the New Age] can be seen in the "planning" of various nations and in the efforts of the United Nations to formulate a world plan... From the very start of this unfoldment, three occult factors have governed the development of all these plans". [Alice B. Bailey, Discipleship in the New Age (Lucis Press, 1955), Vol.II, p.35.] Although she did not spell out clearly the identity of these 'three occult factors', she did reveal to her students that "Within the United Nations is the germ and seed of a great international and meditating, reflective group -- a group of thinking and informed men and women in whose hands lies the destiny of humanity. This is largely under the control of many fourth ray disciples, if you could but realise it, and their point of meditative focus is the intuitional or buddhic plane -- the plane upon which all hierarchical activity is today to be found'. [Ibid., p.220.] To this end, the Lucis Trust (formerly known as the Lucifer Trust), under the leadership of Foster and Alice Bailey, started a group called 'World Goodwill' -- an official Non-Governmental Organisation within the United Nations. The stated aim of this group is "to cooperate in the world of preparation for the reappearance of the Christ" [One Earth, the magazine of the Findhorn Foundation, October/November 1986, Vol. 6, Issue 6, p.24.] Readers should bear in mind that 'the reappearance of the Christ', as stated in Neo-Gnostic literature, is not to be confused with the biblical concept of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, but refers to the 'World Teacher' who is expected to lead humanity into a forthcoming Golden Age on earth. But the esoteric work inside the U.N. does not stop with such recognized occult groupings. Much of the impetus for this process was initiated through the officership of two Secretary-Generals of the U.N., Dag Hammarskjöld (held office: 1953-1961) and U Thant (held office: 1961-1971) who succeeded him, and one Assistant Secretary-General, Dr. Robert Muller. In a book written to celebrate the philosophy of Teilhard de Chardin (and edited by Robert Muller), it is revealed that "Dag Hammarskjöld, the rational Nordic economist, had ended up as a mystic. He too held at the end of his life that spirituality was the ultimate key to our earthly fate in time and space". [Robert Muller (ed.), The Desire to be Human: A Global Reconnaissance of Human Perspectives in an Age of Transformation (Miranana, 1983), p.304.] In case readers may be wondering what kind of 'spirituality' Dag Hammarskjöld advocated, a leaflet about the United Nations Meditation Room written under the direction of Mr. Hammarskjöld stated that the eerie lodestone altar within it 'is dedicated to the God whom man worships under many names and in many forms'. [Quoted in R.K. Spenser, The Cult of the All-Seeing Eye (Christian Book Club of America, 1962), p.9.] We will save for a later time to show how this syncretistic notion is fundamental to the development of the New Spirituality, the New World Order and to the generation of its Occult Millennium here on Earth. Mr Nikolayev is determined that the one million people who live in Sakha, a diamond-rich but poverty-stricken republic where winter temperatures can drop to -60C, will be able to work freely in English as well as Russian and Yakut, the other two official languages. Besides ordering his government staff to learn the language, he has made it a staple of the national curriculum. Mr Nikolayev said the decree was designed to bring about "the intensification of planetary intergovernmental relations" and the republic's "striving to integrate into the global economic fellowship". It is doubtful whether many of the Russians, Yakuts and other 80 nationalities who live in Sakha, 3,700 miles east of Moscow, have the means or the desire to study English intensively. The republic, also known as Yakutia, is a place where people should be living in luxury off the profits from a lucrative diamond industry and a rich supply of oil, gold, platinum and other metals. In fact, the population is among the most miserable in the former Soviet Union. Millions of people were paid by the Soviet Government to settle on the permafrost, many in towns where every house is built on stilts, to mine its riches. Before that, it was home to political prisoners exiled under the tsars. The Soviet authorities shipped the new settlers unlimited quantities of food and oil from St Petersburg - so much that the residents of Sakha have been living off their Soviet reserves since 1991. But these have now run out. Medical care is poor and unemployment is high, but there is no money to improve dilapidated schools and hospitals or to relocate people to more habitable areas. Do you know anything about that group? You might check the archives for articles posted about Lazard, Andre Meyer, Sir Weetman Pearson, and Andre Malraux. These are not "nice guys," and no one can get as far as Rohatyn has climbed without being one of them. They have a secret agenda, which they may try to rationalize by doing a few "nice" things to impress the masses. But they have been Rockefeller's only investment bank forever. I can't disagree with what you say, but from the gitgo, it appears that good and honorable choices were scarce, and that continues to this day. Choices are made with maximum profit in mind. The real tragedy of corporate control is that decisions are not only profit based, but essentially stupid as well. When the corporate types sits down with elected government officials (usually former business people or attorneys), the welfare of the world gets short shrift. They took out their anger on the American president as well. As they waved their signs and Cuban flags, they shouted "Clinton! Coward! Miami hates you!" One slogan, though, stood out among all others, and it has law enforcement officials alarmed. "If Elian goes back Miami will burn! Those charged with maintaining the peace and protecting lives and property were immediately reminded of earlier resorts to violence in Miamis largely black minority neighborhoods. Most of all, there were recollections of parts of Los Angeles and the nations capital in flames during the civil-rights riots of the 1960s. It was the second day of protests in Miami against the Immigration and Naturalization Service decision to send Elian back to Cuba after he was rescued on Thanksgiving Day from a sinking boat in which his mother and her boy friend had sought to flee Castros Cuba. The World Bank on Wednesday announced the first international bond offering to be marketed, sold and traded through the internet to both retail and institutional investors. Lead underwriters Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers have joined forces with Charles Schwab and Fidelity Brokerage Service to reach their combined 8m retail accounts. This is the first time internet brokerages will have participated in a bond deal as underwriters. Goldman and Lehman will also offer secondary trading on the $3bn bond issue, expected to come to market within weeks, through their proprietary online trading systems. The World Bank's aim is to tap a wider base of investors. "This is the first comprehensive online issue, because it is fully integrated from front to back," said Victor Simone, managing director for fixed-income at Goldman Sachs. Investors will be able to indicate interest in the bonds online and the order book will be managed electronically. The World Bank can monitor the book-building process in real time then allocate bonds via the internet. Perhaps most important, secondary trading will also then occur via the internet, including the popular web sites of Charles Schwab and Fidelity. Camdessus said that the IMF's interim committee currently a consultative grouping with no executive powers should be transformed into a full-fledged decision-making body. He also said that he would like to turn the G7 summit into a wider gathering every two years by including the IMF's 24 board member countries, the World Bank and the secretary-general of the United Nations. ``This would, at last, enable us to establish a coordination of strategies,'' he said. The G7, or Group of Seven major industrial nations, gathers the political leaders of the United States, Canada, Japan, Britain, France, Germany and Italy for periodic meetings. Dear Chris: Obviously this latest bit of news posted by Bill has had its usual backlash of inquiries and emails headed my way. Though this posting is interesting and I would love to be free to comment on the current subject, I am restricted by law. The receiver appointed by the court has also banned me from writing and the US government now seems to have claimed that they now control my First Amendment rights as well. I think things would have been fairer if we didn't have a constitution. In any event, I am at liberty to speak about subjects other than my own case. To set the record straight, I have disagreed with GATA that the depression of gold has been an organized manipulation on the part of central banks. I have never denied that there is a cartel of "private" groups, funds and individuals who do herd together to manipulate as many markets as they possibly can. At the start of the silver manipulation. I was flat. I had taken all profits and closed out all short positions. Silver was trading around $4.29 when PhiBro walked across the ring and handed to my broker an order to buy 1,000 lots of silver every penny down for as far as you could see. They intentionally showed me the Buffet order. Later, Bob Gotlieb from Republic Bank call me and tried to get me to join the manipulation. He said "something big is coming down in silver" and when I asked who was behind its he said "your friends in CT." After being approached several times to join the manipulation, I reported to our clients that "they" were back. I would not have used the term "they" if it had been someone other than the same crew as in 1995. I was told that the target was $7. I reported that information on our website. I was NOT short. I knew what they were capable of doing. I left the country for my usual fall tour. I was invited by the government of China to discuss the Asian Crisis. I visited the government there in December of 1997. Upon my return, silver was at $6.40 and everyone indeed had been led to believe it was me because the orders were routed through Republic to give the marketplace the impression that it was me buying the silver. In fact, it was Republic buying the silver itself and moving it to London. It is true that I was very mad. I did not like being accused of doing something I did not. I would have to have been crazy to be short silver after reporting to the world that a manipulation was underway and that the target was $7 and then leave town for 3 months. I was not short 700 tons of gold and never was. My own forecast called for a June low and a rally into October. I made forecasts of hunreds of different markets. I does not mean that I must also have a position in that market. I have been bullish on stocks since the turn in 1994, but by law I am also prohibited from owning any stock and have not owned anything since 1980. Just because someone has a long-term forecast that disagrees with your own does not mean that I must have been also short. I view the world from a global correlation perspective and it just doesn't seem possible to achieve a raging bull market in metals when stocks are the flavor of the month. Bull markets are historically created when capital concentrates and that focus is in the stock market for now. When that concentration breaks, capital will then look around for the next great investment. That should be the commodity cycle between 2002-2007 and perhaps extend out as late as 2012. For now, either the metals make their final lows in 2001 or 2002. Either way, they should be contrasted by a bubble top in stocks. As it stands now, indeed the government intends to put me in jail tomorrow because I am taking the 5th Amendment. I must do so to protect my defense until trial. They are using a civil action of contempt arguing that I have no 5th Amendment rights. I will go to jail tomorrow willingly before I bend before this corrupt thing we call government. Keep in mind one thing. If the government is intent upon silencing you, you suddenly find that they are no better than Russia. They need no proof. They strip you of your assets to prevent you from defending yourself. They attack and threaten your attorneys with jail for contempt and try to take back any money they have already spent even though it was unfrozen by a judge previously. In other words, the US has become no better than Russia. They even threaten your family, your employees and your friends. This is what America is now all about. They know my life has been threatened and quite frankly the government most likely cheerishes the thought of me being killed while in prison. That way, everybody wins. Armstrong The issue of establishing a federal monetary system was hotly debated for more than a decade. Many still held to their convictions that individual states should maintain their own authority to issue money. The debate over the monetary system of the United States came to a head when the Constitution of the United States was ratified in 1790. While Congress authorized private banks (Bank of New York Providence Bank received charters in 1792), it was not until March 27th in 1792 that the authorization of the US Mint was signed into law, which was enacted shortly thereafter on April 2nd of the same year. Nonetheless, even after the US Mint was established, many in Congress continued to attack the very notion of a federalized monetary system. For some years to come, the opponents of the newly formed federal government took whatever opportunity they found to display their dissent in a vain attempt to reverse the authority over the monetary system. Coming on the back of revolution, this young nation struggled with the issues of federalization. One of the most heated debates centered on the design of the coinage and what effigy would symbolize the goals and image of the United States. The debate was split between the House of Representatives and the Senate with opposing views. The Senate preferred that the first coinage of the United States should incorporate the image of its President, who was naturally George Washington at the time. The House of Representatives favored an image of Liberty, arguing that while George Washington was an honorable man, there was no guarantee for those who would follow him in the years ahead. They also feared that allowing the image of the President to adorn the monetary system of the nation would in effect portray the image of a monarchy, which was greatly despised within the new republic. Washington himself agreed with the House and in the end, Lady Liberty was once again victorious. It is therefore in 1791-1792 that we find several different designs being struck in the United States as patterns or tokens. A series of bronze one-cent pieces have survived with the image of George Washington. While these early issues of 1791-1792 displaying the image of Washington were not adopted, it is important to note that they did contribute to establishing the American eagle, shield and stars as a theme that would ultimately live on to this day. Many of these Washington coppers were mostly tokens and a few did display a denomination. Some tokens were actually struck by the English for trade with the United States. None were actually struck by the US Mint in an official capacity as federal coinage. With the passage of the Act of Congress establishing the US Mint at Philadelphia in 1792, two engravers were hired to prepare the designs of Liberty for the proposed new federal coinage. Joseph Wright was favored by George Washington for the position of Chief Engraver, but he died shortly after preparing one design for a quarter-dollar. There is denial, there can be wholesale acceptance or variant degress of understanding of our situation. For many a conspiracy believer is some nut ranting about "precious bodily fluids," etc. This image is not by chance. And who wants to be one of "those." But as I am sure most of you folks know, that if a person truly takes just a little time and looks into conspiracy literature that there is much more. I mean who can ever forget when you as a layperson economist found out that the Fderal Reserve wasn't part of the US Federal government? Did you believe it? Did you understand what that meant? Just like you had to go through a learning process, so will our republic. It we shall hope be long-lasting lesson. Be prepared for a a crisis and resolution 2004-2008. Time is on our republic's side. WASHINGTON--Given the homogenization of America, and especially
of its political class, there is not apt to be anything again
remotely like the Democratic tickets of 1932 and 1936. As
speculating about vice presidential nominations begins, remember
when the top of the Democratic ticket, Franklin Roosevelt, came
from the top of American society--the Hudson Valley
squirearchy--and his running mate came from America's frontier.
John Nance ("Cactus Jack") Garner, who died in 1967 at age 98,
was, as Alistair Cooke writes in his new book ("Memories of the
Great the Good"), the last public man linking "America of the
Civil War and America of the nuclear age." Son of a Confederate
cavalry trooper, he was born in a one-room cabin in Texas' Red
River Valley, in 1868, before the Apache raids had ended. As a
child he knew a woman who had been scalped. A judge at 25,
congressman at 34, at the end of FDR's second term Garner went
home, vowing never to cross the Potomac again. Never did.
Back then, politics had more certainties than it now has, two
of which were that the South would vote Democratic and no
Southerner could be elected president. Frequently the South's
consolation was a Democratic vice presidential candidate. (Harry
Truman's running mate came from a border state, Kentucky; Adlai
Stevenson's two came from Alabama and Tennessee; John Kennedy's
from Texas.)
Nowadays politics is more fluid, and presidential nominees of
both parties are tempted to think imaginatively about running
mates, as with Elizabeth Dole. Although her droll husband, with
his penchant for making a difficult situation excruciating,
semi-endorsed John McCain's candidacy while she was still a
candidate, she has endorsed George W. Bush, enkindling talk
about her as Bush's running mate.
Would she cure the Republicans' "gender gap"? That gap needs
defining.
In 1992 President Bush ran better among married women (40 percent)
than among men generally (38 percent). In 1996 Bob Dole did
almost as well among married women (43 percent) as among all
men (44 percent). The striking Bush and Dole weaknesses were
among unmarried women (31 and 28 percent respectively). But
this is less a measure of gender difference than class difference:
Unmarried women have lower average incomes and higher insecurities
than married women. Is Elizabeth Dole an answer to essentially
class anxieties?
Picking a running mate is the first thing a presidential nominee
does with much of the country paying attention. (A poll conducted
Oct. 25-Nov. 7 for the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the
University of Pennsylvania found that 59 percent of the electorate
does not know that Bill Bradley ever played basketball, 76 percent
does not know that John McCain is a senator, 85 percent does not
know that Bradley and Al Gore were senators.) The presidential
candidate wants his vice presidential choice to have two immediate,
summertime consequences, one autumn consequence (actually,
nonconsequence) and one or two possible Election Day consequences.
He wants voters immediately to say, "That vice presidential
nominee is presidential." The second desired summertime
consequence is for the choice to change adventitiously the
public's perception of the presidential nominee.
During the autumn he wants his running mate to do no harm--to
make no mistakes. On Election Day he wants his running mate to
cause a modest shift in an important and closely contested state
or, more ambitiously, to cause a consequential portion of a
particular group to move his way nationally, perhaps tilting
several states.
Dole's credentials might satisfy the summertime criteria. Her
disciplined campaigning would satisfy the autumn criterion.
However, she is only loosely associated with a state (North
Carolina). And regarding the more ambitious of the two Election
Day objectives, it is hard to find precedent for a "running mate
effect" that transcends the running mate's state.
Because of doubts about Bush's intellectual weight and steadiness,
if he is nominated his choice of running mate should given him
a gravitas infusion. It might be Dick Cheney--pro-life and
well-seasoned, he has been a congressman and White House chief
of staff, and was secretary of defense during the Gulf War. (He
currently works, and last voted, in Dallas, but retains a
residence in Wyoming.)
Or, to tilt a state, perhaps Michigan's pro-life Gov. John Engler.
Or, if Bush thinks pro-life dissent would be mild (not likely)
and perhaps beneficial (even less likely--right-to-life people
will provide much of whatever passion there is behind a Bush

That crater, however, was only a part of the total 10 percent of the target area that had steep enough terrain to cause the mission to fail. Zureck was responding to press reports saying that the likely reason the Lander was lost was that it landed on the steep slopes. A report in Thursday's Denver Post quoted an unnamed member of the Lockheed Martin team working on the mission as saying that the landing site had become the "No. 1 cause of why we haven't heard from MPL with most people associated with the program." When NASA was selecting the landing site, he said, it tried to avoid places where the surface slope was greater than 10 degrees. "We knew about this deep valley and the crater (within it) right from the beginning of our site selection," said Zurek. "The area covered by [such] slopes is less than 10 percent of the total area when the Lander might have set down." Zurek confirmed that the crater walls had a slope of up to 20 degrees. Zureck said that NASA had considered making a final course correction to the Lander a few days before touch down because it was in fact going to land closer to the valley than planned. The correction would have carried the spacecraft further south, however, and possibly into other potentially rough terrain. NASA decided, therefore, not to tweak the spacecraft's path any further Admitting that some at NASA were annoyed at the press coverage, Dr. Noel Hinners, Vice President of Lockheed Martin Astronautics, said that the assertion reported in the Post was irresponsible. The team was now doing the analysis to determine the most likely place that the Lander would have landed. "As we get more of that data in we will be better able to tell statistically what's the chance we came down by a crater or a high slope. To date, we don't have a definitive answer to where we came down," he said, "we may never have thatWe just don't know." Lockheed Martin Astronautics of Denver, Co is the industrial partner of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) which is managing the Mars Polar Lander mission. Contact with the Mars Polar Lander (MPL), and the two Deep Space 2 surface probes piggybacking on the spacecraft, was lost December 3 as the mission began its rendezvous with the red planet. The MPL team is still attempting to reestablish communications with the Lander. They will try to contact the Lander at different times of day over the next week or two in case the spacecraft's internal clock has gotten out of synch. NASA is trying to catch a glimpse of the Lander's parachute with the camera on the Mars Global Surveyor now in orbit above the planet. The Lander itself is too small to be seen by the camera. That search area is large, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) long by several kilometers wide. Unfortunately, NASA has almost no data on the Martian winds and must guess broadly where the spacecraft landed. The Mars Climate Orbiter, which was lost in November, could have provided information to help improve the estimates of the wind speeds. The Orbiter was lost when English units were incorrectly translated into metric units in a portion of the ground-base navigation software. The search area for the Lander has been mapped completely once so far but there are gaps in the pictures caused by a loss of data at the Deep Space Network stations. A second set of images will be taken to fill in the gaps and expand the search area. NASA has not ruled out any causes for the mission failure said Zureck and "It could be the surface, it could be the flight systems and all the things [the spacecraft] had to do successfully to land on the planet." He said that there was no data so far that caused him to lean toward a problem on the surface or a mishap during approach. Unless a reason for the failure can be found soon, the Mars missions planned for 2001 may have to be delayed to allow for extra tests. Zurek said that if they are not able to find the parachute they will have to assume that last month's failure was caused by something in the spacecraft's systems. Urgyen Trinley Dorje is the 17th Karmapa, as the master of the Kagyu school is known, and can trace his lineage back more than 700 years. He is only 14 years old: in the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, he was "discovered" as the school's new Karmapa while a small child, and is regarded as the reincarnation of the 16th Karmapa, who died four years before he was born. He is from a nomad family in the village of Bakor in the east of Tibet. But this young lama's unique significance is that for the Chinese authorities in Lhasa, he was the best symbol of Tibetan acquiescence in their rule. Unlike the present Panchen Lama, another potent spiritual figurehead who was selected with Chinese approval but greeted with a universal thumbs down by Tibetans, the 17th Karmapa is recognised as the legitimate head of his school, both by the Chinese and by the Dalai Lama himself. The fact that this holy lama, not much inferior in spiritual status to the Dalai Lama, chose to remain at his monastery 30 miles north-west of the Tibetan capital, Lhasa, instead of fleeing the country, gave the Chinese precious legitimacy among the six million Tibetans who have been their unwilling and brutalised subjects since the Chinese invasion of 1950. Like other members of Tibet's traditional élite who stayed in the country, he was rewarded: he retained control of his monastery and received money and cars in return for his compliance. He was also kept under surveillance. But with his dramatic overland flight in the middle of the Himalayan winter, that prop of Chinese power has fallen apart. "This explodes the myth which is fundamental to China's operation in Tibet," says Robbie Barnett, an expert on Tibet doing research at Columbia University in the US. "The Chinese claimed they had done a deal with the Karmapa. Tibetans always say the Chinese lie, and this will be taken as a vivid example of that." The Liberty was obviously being used to intercept communications in the region, it's exact mission was stated to be routine, but some of its equipment and paraphrenelia was not disclosed, some of which must have been high tech listening devices as well as radio jamming technology, and etc. That the Israelis attacked the ship is itself an indictment against what was going on there, they viewed it as an encroachment into their affairs and saw it as a threat to their plans. I mean who can ever forget when you as a layperson economist found out that the Fderal Reserve wasn't part of the US Federal government? Did you believe it? Did you understand what that meant? Just like you had to go through a learning process, so will our republic. It we shall hope be long-lasting lesson. Be prepared for a a crisis and resolution 2004-2008. Time is on our republic's side. MHO Om K Kris is ever the optimist when it comes to our potential as people to finally wake up and smell the coffee. I do not feel the same way, even though I hope that he proves right in the end. There are important things afoot and we all need to be aware of them. The issues that are discussed here hit upon a variety of subjects, some of which are quite polarizing and distracting. Kris is right to assert that there is a perception of what "Conspiracy Theorist", or "Conspiracy Researcher" means and it involves a lot of wacko theories as well as a good dose of right wing-ism and Christian Fundamentalism. The issues that typically cause the most disruption here are ones involving dogmatic belief systems, such as religion and faith. That is understandable. What Kris does here as the owner of this list is allow as free a hand as he can to allow these views to be talked about. Sometimes it opens up animosity and bad feelings between people. These things are unavoidable. What should be the goal, much before it spreads to make itself known in the wider world is for us all on this list to do as the subject line of this e-mail states, and that is to lighten up. Secondly to be open to hearing other views and willing to embrace new ideas that have value and worth. We should not be seeking to convert or to thrust our views down the throats of others, especially here in this forum. We are about ideas and about opening minds to new thoughts, and to looking with open eyes at older ideas that have been shaped into something new. We should all be about our business here in such a way that we can each, without rancor express our views and hopefully we can all gain something from the exchange. We exchange information and as such we are a community of like minded individuals who should be building up a base of information which would hopefully lead to further good changes in our lives and "real life" communities. This is what I envision here. I would like to think that Kris is right that things will change because people will wake up at some point and stop the slide that this country has headed into, but I am not optimistic, especially when I see the people here, who should be a little more informed as to behind the scenes manipulation and hidden goals of the elites who control (or try to control) it all, being divisive and counterproductive. I personally think that it will take much more bad news before anyone decides it is time to wake up and do something. People talk too much about what should be done and they talk and talk and talk, but they never actually do anything. They are too lazy, or too absorbed in their own lives, or too embroiled in their own belief systems, to step out of the mold and the cage that they occupy to actually take a stand. Would that we all on this list at least could appreciate the efforts that are being made by those of us here who try to open the eyes of our fellow travellers to hidden things. Would that all that is hidden be made manifest and reveal the true state of affairs for us all, now and in the future. We should not be about trying to force a view or to demand the acceptance of a position that we hold dear, but we should not be afraid to discuss those things forthrightly and accept the challenges that come with aplomb and not get too riled up about it, especially when it comes to

The two videos were made from cameras in the heads of guided missiles as they bore down on the railway bridge near the Serb town of Grdelicka on April 12, the Frankfurter Rundschau said. A train crossing the bridge was hit, killing at least 14 people. It was one of several incidents of NATO bombs going astray or hitting misidentified targets during the fighting over Kosovo. NATO officials said at the time that the train appeared on the bridge so fast that there wasn't time to redirect the AGM-130 missiles. The videos were shown to support that position. Lt. Col. This is odd. I have never felt at home with the 20th century, and maybe will like the 21st even less, but on no regard do I dislike it enough to wish millions to suffer and probably die, in order to change it. The world is a very dangerous place and getting more so not less, so our preparations might serve a larger purpose than we know at the present time. Personally, I felt bound to make certain preparations and in doing so have brought a greater degree of self sufficency and safty to my family. I am extremely greatful to those that tirelessly helped me in that direction. I could not have done it without them. But, in no way, will I chose to let go of the hedge I feel my family needs. Dangers are everywhere. If a bullet missed our heads by inches; it would be stupid to conclude either we were invincible or that we were not under attack. It was unprecidented cooperation among nations that avoided certain difficulities. Often this was done by 'windowing', putting the clocks back, manuel work-arounds, digital ducktape of one kind or another. This means a large part of the world did not correct the y2k bug, but postponed dealing with it. But this was all to the good, in the sense that large sectors of power did not go out all at once. And it means that the 'bugs' can be fixed at a more leasurily pace and breakdowns are likly to be more isolated therefore eaiser to fix. The local electric company has been running their computers on a date 3 or 4 months ahead of real time. This means that sometime in March perhaps, the clocks will have to be corrected. Better then than now. A power outage in March will not be so devestating (to our psychie anyway) as it would have been on New Years; that is, if it happens at all. It is the personal ego that gets hurt when things do not turn out as it planned and it wants to assign blame. If the personal ego was not so involved in our lives then we would not feel hurt when we expect sunshine, but get rain. This is the reason and the great test of our spiritual growth. Can we let go and let God deal with the world? If the spirit is leading us, then what we did or do will be perfect for us and others whether we can tell this or not at present. We trust the processes and intuitions that work in us. If it was stictly personal ego, then, well, anything that happens either causes it to gloat or to be disappointed to death. It is to put this 'ego' in its subordinate position to the spirit, this and only this will leave us with freedom and peace. Thank You D/ P.S. Certain dangers and trying circumstances do lie ahead. We should be better prepared to wither these storms. It is extremely difficult to say 'when' this or that will befall mankind, and it is difficult to predict accurately the severity of events, because (being astral) they can be modified by prayer, mantras, spiritual work and correct physical action. It is foolish to think that prayers, spirit work of all kinds did not have a mitagating effect. It is like going to a healer, our diease turns out to be less and eventually recedes. Are we to conclude that our disease that we thought we had was a delusion? Is it not more correct to give credit to where it is due; that is, we have been spared an overwhelming tradagy due to the work of our spiritual and material benefactors? Now we can't help my son treat the cough after the flu. His lungs are clear. He had the temperature for two days, now he does not have the temperature. He usually drinks a lot of orange juice, now he only occasionally sips from the bottle. Refuses food. Dry cough from larynx which nothing can stop disturbs his sleep and makes us very worrying. Phosphorus does not help. (We do not have here in Belgrade a homeopath, we usually live in Prague and are here because of sudden death 20 days ago of my mother in law.) Any ideas? At least 14 people died on April 12, 1999 when a US Airforce bomber fired on a railway bridge near the Serbian village of Grdenicka just as a passenger train was crossing the bridge. Following the initial strike of the train, the pilot returned to make a second sweep of the burning bridge and dropped a bomb on a carriage that had not been hit by the first assault. At the time NATO described the bombing of the commuter train as a tragic accident. NATO's presentation of events, it now emerges, was based on doctored video recordings and misleading descriptions of what took place aboard the fighter plane. One day after the strike, in an effort to demonstrate that the attack was a case of inadvertent collateral damage, General Wesley Clark, the Supreme Commander of NATO forces, called a press conference and showed two video films taken by cameras located in the noses of the remote control-guided bombs. According to Clark, the films made clear that the passenger train was approaching too fast for the pilot, who was concentrating on the difficult business of guiding the bombs, to react. The pilot had less than a second to abort the strike, Clark asserted. Of course, this version of events did not explain why the plane turned round and dropped a second bomb. But the official NATO account given by Clark was misleading in two further respects. First, the video film sped up the actual sequence by a factor of at least three. Second, the fighter plane used in the attack - type F15E - had a crew of two, a pilot and a weapons systems officer. The pilot played no role in directing the bombs and could not have been diverted by that task. In this type of plane the bombs find their own way to the target as soon as the target co-ordinates have been set by the weapons systems officer, who can, however, intervene to stop or divert them. Festerling pointed out that status signals giving technical information and a running clock normally shown on such videos did not appear on the videos shown to the press public by Clark. Festerling explained: According to the video 2.3 seconds elapse from the time the train clearly enters the field of vision to the time the bomb strikes home. This implies the train was travelling at 300 kilometres per hour. If one assumes, for the purpose of making calculations, that the train was actually travelling at 100 kilometres per hour (a figure which is probably far too high, bearing in mind the antiquated state of the Serbian rail system) the video [shown by Clarke] is running at least three times faster than real time. This means the weapons systems officer had at least 6.9 seconds to react, instead of 2.3 seconds which Clark, in his presentation, had reduced to less than a second'. NATO therefore showed a film which was totally unreliable with regard to the crucial question of when the attack took place. On the basis of these unreliable videos and a misleading choice of words, the NATO Supreme commander in Europe led the public to believe that the attack on the train was unavoidable because of time pressure. NATO has now largely conceded that this is, in fact, what happened. Festerling quoted an official of Shape, the central NATO command in Europe, who said, Yes, the video ran considerably faster. The headquarters of the US Air Force in Europe, located in Ramstein, Germany, also confirmed this fact, but then went on to speak of a regrettable hardware error, which they attributed to the firm of Sun Microsystems. According to their account, the speeding up of the film took place unnoticed as the video was being transformed into mpeg-format. The main concern was to make the material available to the public as soon as possible, and therefore a supposedly arduous stage in the conversion of the film was neglected. The status signals did not appear on the video because, for some unexplained reason, the film taken came from the accompanying plane and not the plane responsible for the attack. The bombing videos from the attack plane itself are no longer available. This whole explanation is extremely dubious. One can only assume that anybody with experience working with of this type of weapons technology would have been able to immediately identify the speeding up of the tape. Furthermore, the technology necessary for the supposedly arduous conversion of the film into mpeg-format takes, in fact, just a few minutes. At a cost of a few hundred dollars it can be loaded onto any standard personal computer.

I *have* studied homeopathy (not thoroughly, but enough to educate myself),
and I am convinced that it works. It doesn't work all the time, for
everyone, any more than allopathy ("orthodox" medicine) works all the time,
for everyone. But it works often enough to demonstrate to my satisfaction
that it's valid. I know for a fact that the only medication that will
consistently relieve my arthritic hands is a homeopathic gel containing
rhus
toxicohedron, ledum palustre, and symphytum officianale, in a witch hazel
base; and as for migraines, I've found a preparation containing iris
versicolor to be very effective if I take it just when the headache begins
(probably more effective than "mainstream" medications). I noted with
interest that iris was NOT listed among the homeopathic remedies included
in
the literature review described in this article. As with anything, there is
a large element of observer bias here; a believer will invariably get
positive results, a skeptic will get ambiguous or negative results.

Finally, the FDA says it wants to set up "a rapid response team" to identify, investigate, and prosecute web sites. In other words, the FDA is seeking to establish an army of cyberspace storm-troopers to enable it to shut down large numbers of web sites quickly. The alleged purpose of these new powers is to "target and punish those who engage in illegal drug sales over the Internet." This may sound reasonable to the average person, but as members of The Life Extension Foundation well know, the FDA's history is one of ineptitude and corruption that has caused millions of Americans to suffer and die needlessly. In 1994, the FDA Museum was established to document FDA malfeasance, and show that the agency hasn't the scientific legitimacy to be allowed to police the healthcare of the American people. A flagrant example of FDA deception can be found in their current attempt to control the Internet. The FDA has identified one person who died after obtaining Viagra from a Web pharmacy without a prescription. The FDA is using this one death as an example of why the FDA needs to impose dictatorial power over all health Web sites. One problem with this position is that, as of November 1998, at least 130 Americans died from taking Viagra legally prescribed by their doctors. There are currently an estimated 8,000 health sites on the Internet. If Congress gives the FDA $10 million a year, the best the agency could do is shut down a couple of hundred sites a year. Within a few years, the FDA would create a litigation monster whose appetite would far exceed their $10 million annual budget. The FDA would be bogged down in a quagmire of judicial proceedings, while thousands of new health Web sites would be springing up that the agency would be at an utter loss to control. The end result of the FDA's war against the free flow of information on the Internet would be tens of millions of tax dollars wasted, with less so-called consumer "protection" than exists today. The matter is settled," barked Putin shortly after Russia launched its Chechen war in September. Such talk could have cost his predecessors their job. But it boosted Putin's career. He became acting president Friday when Boris Yeltsin suddenly announced he was stepping down, and is likely to retain the Kremlin hot seat for years to come. Yeltsin, ailing and being edged out of power by his closest advisers, named the then virtually unknown security chief as prime minister last August. But the respected Moscow Times said in an editorial: "There is no particular reason to believe that Unity is 'centrist,' unless 'centrist' is another word for 'unknown.'" The English-language newspaper added: "But what seems clear is that the Kremlin has been dealt a winning hand -- or the Kremlin has dealt itself a winning hand, depending on one's point of view." What can be gleamed from Putin's bare biography suggests that he is intelligent and cunning, trusted enough by peers to be handed some of the most sensitive assignments. Putin "was shaped by the single greatest mission in the history of the KGB," wrote the US-based private global intelligence firm Stratfor. That mission was the "systematic restructuring of the Soviet economy, Soviet society and Soviet relations with the West in the hope of preserving the state and the regime." Putin spent the 1980s in Berlin, where intelligence observers believe he slipped into West Germany to learn trade secrets of such companies as US computer giant IBM. Observers believe KGB officers knew the Soviet Union was in ruins and could be preserved only by revolutionising its lagging technology and attracting investors from the West. It remains unclear how successful Putin was. But he became the chief liaison for foreign investors after joining the pro-reform team of Saint Petersburg Mayor Anatoly Sabchak in 1994. The probe by the Oregon-based manufacturer follows a German television report that the yellow-and-black jerseys Nike made for a popular German soccer club contained tributyltin, a heavy metal compound used in anti-barnacle paint for ships. Three German department store chains pulled the shirts off their shelves Wednesday and Thursday as a precaution, and the club whose jerseys were tested said it had suspended their sale at its official fan store. Also used to kill bacteria and quell the smell of sweat, TBT would seem ideal for sports shirts. But British and Dutch tests have shown the substance to cause mutations in snails, and the World Wildlife Fund is calling for its global ban. At high levels in humans, TBT is believed to cause neurological problems, damage the immune system and harm the liver, said Juergen Kundke, a scientist with a German institute for consumer health. ``We don't know how much is in the shirts, so we can't analyze the risks,'' he said. ``We knew that the substance was still used in coatings for ships, but it shouldn't be in textiles that people wear.'' Nike's world headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., pledged a quick probe to determine whether any of its products contain the substance. ``We're doing independent tests on our end to ensure there is no risk to the public,'' spokesman Vada Manager said. ``We're obviously going to take the step of checking on products sold in Germany, but we will check worldwide as well.'' ``As of right now there's no legitimate reason to believe there's any risk,'' he said. In its Tuesday broadcast, German public television's consumer show ``Plusminus'' said a private lab it commissioned found TBT and similar compounds in the Nike jerseys and several other products. The items were chosen at random in German stores, according to the TV report, which provided no figures on the TBT levels.
